Description


The Vice President of Marketing and Visitor Services will provide leadership and management of a variety of public-facing departments and overall strategy for marketing the Museum’s many offerings. This position will play a key role, with the President & CEO and senior leadership team, in providing financial sustainability to the Museum by building awareness of all programs through consistent and innovative communications, delivering outstanding customer service, and ultimately increasing earned revenue.

The Vice President will develop and implement a marketing strategy across all communications channels to drive awareness and audience development. They will also provide leadership and management for all retail operations. The Vice President will be a creative thinker and will collaborate with other departments, including Programming, Interpretation, Education, and Development to expand brand awareness, increase attendance, and enhance community engagement while ensuring a high-quality visitor experience. 


Requirements

  

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: 

· Develop and manage strategic marketing plans for Museum programs, including but not limited to daily visitation, special events, camps, classes, exhibits, rentals, and retail opportunities.

· Supervise Marketing & Communications Manager, Communications interns, and outside consultants, ensuring that all public relations, marketing, and social media activities are engaging, consistent, strategic, and drive revenue. 

· Strengthen brand positioning to clearly define the Museum’s value, align with Museum’s mission, and attract diverse audiences.

· Increase our knowledge about what visitors want and share that with staff who deliver programs, then evaluate return on investment for programming as it relates to attendance and revenue using data. 

· Coordinate Museum’s participation in a variety of community activities, including Visit Rochester, Chambers of Commerce, local committees, festivals, etc. to increase awareness. 

· Oversee departments that handle all online and on-site ticketing and retail operations, three seasonal restaurant operations and in-house catering, and coordination of 15-20 weddings and event rentals and 15-20 group tour visits per year.

Minimum Qualifications

· 10-12 years of experience in marketing and retail-based customer service, with a preference for work in a non-profit or museum. 

· Experience in management and leadership including supervision, planning, budgeting, oral and written communications, and training.

· Data-driven mindset with experience in audience research, marketing analytics, and ROI analysis.

· Ability to work nights and weekends, particularly during summer and fall.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

Salary: $90,000 to $98,000 based on experience and qualifications, plus benefits outlined below.
