Operations Supervisor
Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for managing the labor force, encompassing tasks such as conducting training sessions, administering disciplinary actions, ensuring warehouse security, and maintaining communication with employees. Furthermore, the supervisor handles all administrative service functions for their assigned accounts and oversees the various administrative tasks associated with fulfillment operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Oversees order entry, administration, and shipping processes.
  • Trains and cross-trains associates.  
  • Compute and analyze daily, weekly production metrics.
  • Is responsible for some basic budgeting and/or P&L responsibilities (depending upon skills and operational requirements).
  • May involve some client interaction as directed by leadership.
  • Maintains all certification standards such as AIB, etc., and a high standard of housekeeping standards.
  • Ensure a high level of productivity standards using UPH, CPH, and other labor metric standards. 
  • Drive a high quality of work effort through process audits and consistent process outcomes.
  • Schedules labor and supervises the workforce using labor planning methods to achieve financial goals.
  • Conducts daily shift meetings and participates in organizational meetings.
  • Coaches employees, provides performance feedback, and administers discipline accordingly.
  • Ensures proper utilization of space, equipment, and resources.
  • Ensures inventory accuracy, adherence to policies and procedures, sanitation guidelines, and security protocols.
  • Communicate company goals, industry & brand knowledge, and standards to employees.

SECURITY

  • Complies with all company inventory control and security procedures and ensures compliance by others.
  • Possesses specific knowledge of safety and security protocols for the facility and customer accounts.
  • Ensures security procedures are followed, reports issues/incidents, and recommends corrective actions as necessary.

SAFETY

  • Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety and in accordance with OSHA and other appropriate standards.
  • Is responsible for the safety of employees in their assigned area.
  • Adheres to and enforces safety practices and reports safety violations or noncompliance of facilities and equipment to management.

EQUIPMENT USED

  • Is able to operate, train, and coach others on all equipment used in their area of responsibility.
Requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience.

  • High school graduate, some college preferred.
  • 1-2 years of warehouse supervisory experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to lead, guide, instruct, train, evaluate, discipline, and motivate employees.
  • Ability to operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE) is required, including familiarity with forklifts, reach trucks, electric pallet jacks, order pickers, and clamp machines.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English – both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to think logically and problem-solve to analyze situations, troubleshoot, and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Sound knowledge of warehouse management systems and related hardware/software.
  • The ability to perform employees’ roles is highly desirable.

  • Ability to work in and adapt to both hot and cold environments.
