Description
The PDO (Parents Day Out) Substitute Teacher provides quality childcare for children ages six months to five years, incorporating Bible lessons and age-appropriate activities in a nurturing, Christ-centered environment. This is a substitute position, meaning the candidate would work on an as-needed basis and potentially on short notice. PDO operates on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the school year from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a classroom teacher, leading children in Bible-based lessons and interactive activities.
- Exhibit a Christ-like attitude while engaging with children, parents, and staff.
- Ensure a safe and structured learning environment, including supervision of transitions between activities and locations.
- Arrive on time and be prepared to receive children.
- Maintain active engagement with children, positioning self at their level (e.g., sitting on the floor, small tables, or holding younger children).
- Assist with diapering, bathroom breaks, and safely moving children across campus as needed.
- Support emergency procedures by guiding children safely during drills or real situations.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience working with children is preferred.
- A growing Christian and active member of a Bible-believing church.
- Demonstrates a loving, patient, and compassionate heart toward children.
- Ability to take direction and work collaboratively under the leadership of the PDO Coordinator and Kids Ministry team.
- Flexible and adaptable; able to step into a classroom with little preparation and adjust to the needs of the day.
- Strong team player with a teachable attitude.
- Pass a criminal background check, drug screening, and any other required checks per church personnel policies.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Must be available as needed, sometimes on short notice, to fill in for absent teachers.
