Quality Inspector
Description

Under the direction of the Quality Manager the individual will ensure all boats adhere to Hinckley’s “World Class Standard”, by preforming routine inspections. Records all findings by the approved reporting process; In Process Quality Check (IPQC), Final Inspection Quality Check (FIQC), Exit Audit and Sea Trial Release Form. They will share responsibility, on an as-needed basis with the rest of the quality team on inspections, record keeping, process books, sea trials, and training. Excellent communication skills are a must as well as a keen attention to detail.

Essential Duties:

  • Perform in-process quality audits (IPQC) with team leaders or line supervisors.
  • Perform final inspections (FIQC and audits). Report results to quality manager and production supervisor(s).
  • Build, maintain & archive Process Books for each hull.
  • Collect and enter boats’ equipment model and serial numbers.
  • Assist Quality Manager with writing and maintenance of Process Work Instructions (PWI).
  • Assist Quality Manager with development and implementation of standards.
  • Assist with the sea trial and delivery process.
  • Inventory and pack boats for delivery.
  • Other duties as assigned by Quality Manager or General Manager.
Requirements

 The ideal candidate will have:

  • An exceptional eye for detail.
  • 3 years or more experience maintaining or building high quality, high end custom pleasure boats.
  • The ability to constructively work with individuals across departments and organizations.
  • Fundamental skills with Microsoft Word (character & paragraph formatting, page setup, spelling tool) and Microsoft Excel (cell formatting, data sorting, page setup).
  • Complete assigned duties with minimum supervision.

Physical Requirements:

  • Light physical demand. Lift and carry over 25 lbs. up to 60 lbs. on a rare basis.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, kneel, lift push, pull, and work in confined and small spaces.
  • Occasional exposure to odor, noise, dust, heat, cold, chemicals and other elements.
  • Continuous mental and visual attention is required on a constant basis.
