Job Overview
We are looking for a talented and driven Staff Accountant to join our finance team. This remote/hybrid role will be crucial in managing our financial operations while also driving strategic financial planning and analysis.
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the company’s financial operations, including payroll, accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and invoicing. This position requires a unique blend of traditional accounting skills and strategic financial acumen. The ideal candidate will be both detail-oriented and strategic, capable of managing day-to-day accounting operations and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and will offer significant exposure to Homethrive’s Senior Leadership Team.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Compliance:
- Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring that all financial transactions are accounted for and that reports are complete on time in accordance with GAAP accounting standards.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure that all financial transactions are accurately recorded and coded properly.
- Perform regular reconciliations of all accounts, including bank accounts, credit cards, and other general ledger accounts.
Payroll Management:
- Manage payroll processing, including the calculation and payment of wages, taxes, and benefits.
- Ensure compliance with all payroll-related regulations and reporting.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and address any payroll-related inquiries.
Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Oversee the accounts payable process, ensuring timely and accurate payment of invoices.
- Managed accounts receivable, including invoicing, collections, and maintaining customer accounts.
- Managed working capital by optimizing accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes.
Internal Controls & Process Improvement:
- Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Identify and execute opportunities to streamline the accounting process and improve month-end close efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Certified Public Accountant and/or Big 4 audit experience required.
- 5+ years of experience in accounting with extensive experience in an accounting team.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Demonstrated experience of technical accounting and external reporting research.
- Experience building cross-functional relationships and partnering with senior leaders.
- Experience with managing payroll, AP, AR, and invoicing.
- Familiarity with SaaS-based accounting operations and operating models is preferred.
- Advanced experience of accounting software (e.g. Quickbooks, NetSuite, Freshbooks) and expert with all Microsoft platforms.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to interact effectively with various levels of staff and management in various departments.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Leadership of the company's interactions with an independent auditor.
