Reporting to the Nurse Manager, the Women’s Health Registered Nurse works collaboratively as a member of the patient care team to provide consistent, high quality, evidence-based care to patients within the health center. The RN is accountable to perform in accordance with the standards set by the American Nurses Association, Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing, and the health center’s policies and procedures.
GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Women’s Health Registered Nurse is responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and coordination of care for patients and their families within the health center. The RN performs a variety of direct and indirect patient care activities.
These include but are not limited to:
• Complies with all DotHouse Health policies and procedures
• Demonstrates ability to work as a team member to coordinate patient care, referrals, DME orders, care management, and hospital follow up.
• Directs the practice of medical assistants and LPNs
• Participates in orienting peers as need arises
• Reviews and communicates test results per protocol
• Completes accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record
• Performs patient triage and new patient OB intakes
• Provides patient education regarding chronic diseases, medication, pregnancy and post-partum.
• Administers medication, immunizations and treatments as ordered
• Performs charge nurse responsibilities
• Assists with management of urgent and emergent patient care situations
• Assists with or performs procedures
• Manages communication from internal and external sources
• Attends nursing and organizational meetings and participates in QI initiatives
• Provides safe, ethical, evidence based and culturally competent care
• Floats to other nursing departments as need arises
REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing;
Experience:
- 2 years of experience in Adult and Pediatric acute care medical/surgical settings (Preffered).
- Minimum of one year of Ambulatory Care experience (Preferred).
- Bilingual candidates are highly encouraged to apply
Certification/Licensure: Valid RN license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Current BLS certification.
Shift Requirements: All RNs who work full-time and part-time are required to work one weekend shift per month. All full-time and part-time RNs will be required to work holidays & weekends based on a rotating schedule.
Software/Hardware: Must be proficient and have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook,
Excel, Word, etc.)
