Second shift. 4:00 PM - 12:30 AM
*Overtime may be required on a daily or weekly basis
Essential Functions:
· Set up with some assistance and operate mechanical/ CNC hydraulic shears, saws, iron workers, and rolls
· Select correct feeds, speeds, blade gaps, and/or tooling for the job
· Load, install, and setup the tooling for repetitive work per job plan as required
· Process long steel material, cutting to length, deburring, and tube bending
· Read blue print and work order instructions to correctly produce parts
· Perform assigned work to time standards and quality expectations
· Assist less experienced saw/shear operators and other production team members
· Accurately account for time and work completed via online computer data collection system
· Make decisions and problem solve for routine manufacturing issues or seek assistance
· Initiate quality control documents for materials and parts production issues
· Maintain performance log books on assigned area equipment, report deficiencies to the maintenance team
· Participate in equipment preventative maintenance and assist service technicians with machine repairs
· Ensure quality standards and processes are used throughout the facility
· Ensure safety guidelines are being met to assure a safe work environment
· Proper cleaning and maintenance of equipment
Requirements of Machining- Saw/Shear Operators:
· Strong attention to detail
· Strong background in metal saw/shear and fabrication
· Must understand how to read measurements on a tape measure
· Able to work in a fast paced environment
· Demonstrate ability to work independently without daily supervision
· Able to effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written in the English language.
· Ability to effectively interpret and translate instructions to other employees in a professional and respectful manner
· Working knowledge and understanding of saw, shear, roll, and punch operations
· Ability to measure parts accurately and familiar with basic shop hand tools
· Ability to read blueprints or part drawings
· Some experience with material handling with an overhead crane
· Flexible and responsive
· Ability to perform basic mathematical computations
· Basic problem solving skills
· Strong orientation toward quality, safety, and continuous improvement
· Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. when required
· Ability to regularly stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms
· Ability to squat/kneel, bend, twist/turn, grasp and reach overhead and outward frequently
· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
· Ability to work in an environment that is not climate controlled
· Ability to work in a moderate to high noise level environment
· Excellent attendance record
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or GED required
· Ability to understand basic mechanical and manufacturing techniques
· 6-12 months minimum experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
