Summary:
The Duchesne Academy Middle School Dance Team Coach plays a pivotal role in the academic and extracurricular experience of our students. Guided by the Goals and Criteria of the Society of the Sacred Heart, the coach is responsible for coaching the Middle School Dance Team, providing technical training, and fostering a positive, competitive environment. The ideal candidate will not only have a strong background in competitive dance and choreography. The candidate should also possess a nurturing spirit and a deep commitment to inspiring dancers, fostering the sisterhood of the team, and helping each athlete, and the team, reach their full potential.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coach the Middle School Dance Team throughout the school year, including practice planning, performance preparation, and athlete development.
  • Teach jazz, contemporary, and pom choreography.
  • Collaborate with the Dance Team Program Coordinator on event scheduling, costuming, program development, and organizing pep rallies.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as communication with the Dance Team Coordinator, the Athletics Department, parents, and athletes. Participate in seasonal planning meetings and check-ins with the Dance Team Department.
  • Attend and support all Middle School Dance Team performances and competitions.
  • Participate in end-of-season activities, including athlete awards and coach evaluations.
  • Foster a competitive, fun, and supportive environment for all student-athletes.

Minimum Qualifications/Prior Experience/Qualifications Required:

  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience in competitive dance.
  • Availability to coach 3 days a week from 6:30-7:45 a.m.
  • Commitment to attend 2-3 Fall Game Day performances and 2-3 Winter Game Day performances (afternoons- dates will be coordinated with Dance Team Coordinator).
  • Ability to attend 2-3 Saturday dance competitions between January and March (specific dates will be coordinated with the Dance Team Coordinator).
  • Presence at tech rehearsals for the dance show (select mornings and afternoons in April).
  • Proven experience in coaching dance teams.
  • Experience in collegiate or professional coaching and/or teaching.

Upon Hiring

  • Successful completion of criminal offenders’ records information and sexual offender registry checks.
  • Successful completion of CMG Safe Environment Training.
  • Current CPR certification.
