Title: Communications and Marketing Manager
Position Type: Regular Full-Time
Salary: $52,811 - $62,108
This position is eligible for a 5% bilingual differential if the successful candidate meets the Food Share standard on an oral proficiency exam.

Summary of Role: The Communications and Marketing Manager engages the community in the Food Share’s mission through social media, website posts, media outreach, signage and printed materials.

- Enthusiastic about seeing the Food Share’s programs first-hand. You want to get to know our programs by visiting them in person, meeting staff, volunteers, and clients, and participating when you can.
- Great at gathering information. You can track down statistics, talk to a staff member about how a program works, and interview a client about what brought them to a food pantry.
- Skilled at developing messages that connect with the intended audience. You can write a social media post, a website article, copy for a poster, and talking points for a speech.
- Resourceful, adaptable and organized. You have a positive attitude and can identify creative solutions to obstacles. You are comfortable with shifting schedules and don’t expect every day to go as planned. You know how to keep track of multiple projects, meet deadlines, and prioritize what needs to get done first.
Your responsibilities as the Communications Manager will include:
Gathers stories, statistics and other information about the Food Share’s programs and impact in the community.
- Regularly visits and participates in Food Share programs to understand how they work and to build relationships with staff and volunteers.
- Interviews clients, volunteers, community partners, and staff for stories showcasing Food Share programs and partners.
- Takes photos of programs, events, clients, staff, volunteers, and food to maintain a photo library to meet varied communication needs.
- Films short videos for social media, donor messaging, internal communication, and other needs.
- Gathers and documents statistics and other information about the Food Share’s programs and hunger, poverty, and inequity.
- Develops and implements effective strategies for engaging the community through the Food Share’s communication channels.
Develops strategy to use multiple communication mediums to reach a diverse audience of clients, donors, volunteers, and community partners.
- Creates written content highlighting donor impact and program information for print newsletters.
- Develops and implements social media strategy, including posting stories, interacting with followers, and tracking engagement statistics.
- Develops and implements website strategy, including posting stories and keeping content up to date.
- Creates or commissions design and production of signage, flyers, brochures, posters, advertisements, promotional items, and vehicle fleet graphics.
- Oversees media strategy, including generating media coverage, fielding requests from reporters, scheduling interviews for staff, preparing talking points, and serving as spokesperson as needed.
- Manages all aspects of contract video production for large-scale projects, including hiring videographers, scripting, scheduling, coaching interview subjects, and overseeing editing.
- Develops external and internal communications, including messages conveying organizational values of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice.
- Generates talking points for speeches and creates slide decks for presentations.
Oversees brand consistency, manages communication resources, and serves as point of contact for Food Share staff on communication and marketing projects.
- Oversees and monitors adherence to brand guidelines to ensure consistency of messaging, design, and use of logos, fonts and colors.
- Communicates with Food Share staff in all departments to understand communications needs, gather information, and report on progress.
- Reviews communications materials created by other staff members; assists with writing, copy editing, proofreading, and design.
- Oversees three WordPress-based websites, and works with contract web developer to troubleshoot issues, identify and implement ways to improve website accessibility and ease of use, and configure site architecture.
- Edits and archives photos, maintains photography library and oversees distribution and use of digital assets.
- Manages relationships with graphic designers, photographers, videographers, and other vendors.
- Manages organizational marketing budget.

About Marion Polk Food Share
We are the regional food bank bringing people together to end hunger and its root causes in Marion and Polk Counties. Support from our local community makes it possible for the Food Share to collect and distribute nutritious food for children, adults, and seniors through more than 70 partner programs, including food pantries, meal sites and home-delivered meals and to carry out programs to address the root causes of hunger.

Job Conditions:
Work may be performed at a workstation, in a warehouse environment or at various community locations. May occasionally lift, move and carry objects in excess of 30 pounds. During frequent community visits, work is subject to varying indoor and outdoor temperatures and road and walkway surface in all seasons. May work or travel out of the local area and work outside normal working hours, such as evenings and weekends, on occasion. Work in excess of 40 hours per week during peak business periods may occasionally be required.
This job is primarily an on-site position, with some remote work possible. All remote work assignments begin, end, or change only with supervisory approval.
The Food Share provides essential services to our neighbors in Marion and Polk counties. As a result, all Food Share employees may be asked to report to work during local public health, weather, or other environmental emergencies.
