POSITION OVERVIEW: Working primarily outside the office to create new job leads for existing graduates and new internship sites for students approaching their internship experience requirement for graduation. This position requires constant communication and planning with the CS Director and the Career Service Representative (CSR). Develop and maintain effective business relationships with existing new employer sites for graduates and internship work sites. Ensure that students have a viable location to conduct their internship experience that offers the greatest chance of being extended an offer of employment upon completion of the internship experience. Visit in-town and out-of-town employers and encourage them to visit Western Technical College, recruit graduates, conduct interviews, and participate in PAC meetings. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  

1. Employer Outreach & Relationship Development

  • Visit a minimum of 30 new employer sites per month. 
  • Develop a minimum of 15 new internship sites, between all programs you represent, per month, for job leads.  
  • Develop a minimum of five viable out-of-town job leads per month.
  • Establish and maintain internship and job placement opportunities.
  • Secure at least 10 new employer job leads hiring graduates per month.
  • Ensure the internship agreement is covered thoroughly with the employer before signing. Ensuring compliance with WTC standards.
  • Target large operations to build greater opportunities for students and graduates alike.

2. Internship & Job Placement Coordination

  • Ensure at least 50% of interns receive full-time job offers at their internship sites.
  • Maintain a 78% graduate job placement benchmark aligned with WTC goals.  This will be measured quarterly.
  • Visit each student on internship at least once, at their internship site.
  • Provide new Internship Agreements to the Career Services Director. 

3. Collaboration with Career Service Representatives

  • Collect any Verification of Employment (VOE) forms from graduates and employers that have not been. received electronically at school.  
  • Work with CSR collaboratively to determine what students/employers need to be visited to collect timesheets, grades, graduate surveys, and employer surveys. 
  • Assist CSR in bringing in employers to fulfill mock interviews.
  • Support CSR by bringing new employers to participate in PAC meetings.  
  • Responsible for obtaining graduate and employer surveys that were not sent to the school.

4. Collaboration with Program Directors

  • Work closely with Program Directors so that they can provide guidance on what businesses and industries to target.
  • Invite the Program Director(s) to assist in discussions with newfound employment and internship sites to meet with employers as needed.
  • Any issues from the internship site must be reported to the PD and Career Services Director immediately.

5. Other Duties

  • Submit weekly outcome reports to the Career Services Director (as prescribed).
  • Decide with the Career Services Director to meet with classes quarterly to provide updates on the various work environments that are out there.
  • Ensure all interactions/communication between students and graduates is properly documented.
Requirements
  1. Minimum of an associate degree or a combination of education and work experience.
  2. Hard trade knowledge is preferred but not required.
  3. A minimum of five years of experience in the customer service field.
  4. Two years of experience in sales, employment, or related fields.
  5. Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and proof of the minimum legal insurance coverage on your vehicle, and a good MVR record.
  6. You must be able to travel both locally and out of town, therefore you must have dependable transportation.
  7. Must have a personal cell phone to be used with the MFA.
  8. Must be able to work flexible hours, with a minimum of one late night each week.
  9. To telework, the employee is responsible for ensuring to have the needed equipment and technology to perform the essential job functions (i.e., cell phone, internet).

  1. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
  2. Ability to communicate with Spanish-speaking relatives of graduates to convey job leads.
  3. Strong written, oral, and listening skills.
  4. Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  5. Customer Service Must be oriented.
  6. Must be consistent in work performance and meeting deadlines.
  7. Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office).
  8. Creativity and initiative.
  9. Ability to operate office equipment.
  10. Must possess excellent telephone etiquette.
  11. Presentation and group facilitation skills. 
  12. Ability to organize and prioritize duties.
  13. Ability and willingness to comply with school policies and procedures, and state and federal laws and regulations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the responsibilities of the job, these work environmental characteristics are representative of the environment the job holder will encounter. 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level in the work environment may usually be quiet or moderate.
