GENERAL SUMMARY:
The HVAC Technician is responsible for performing installs, repairs and preventative maintenance to a variety of equipment including, but not limited to: air conditioning, heating units, intake and exhaust fans, ice machines, capacity controls, and packaged units.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Installs, maintains and repairs heating, ventilation and cooling units.
• Diagnoses and repairs electronic and mechanical components of HVAC systems.
• Documents all installed equipment upon arrival; make, model, serial number, etc. in company asset management platform (FMX).
• Establishes and maintains a Preventative Maintenance program for all locations.
• Tracks workflow of work orders through FMX.
• Secures parts and equipment as needed.
• Able to read and understand wiring diagrams.
• Able to use multi-meters to read voltage, current and resistance values.
• Able to troubleshoot advanced electrical circuits.
• Maintains proper stock of parts, tools, and safety equipment in company vehicle.
• Other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Five to seven years of experience in installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and correcting diverse HVAC service issues.
• Good analytical skills and attention to detail with the ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, manuals and other documentation as needed.
• Able to work in a diverse and accelerated environment.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Able to maintain a high level of dependability related to response times, deadlines, punctuality and attendance.
• Able to identify and escalate situations requiring urgent attention.
• Able to communicate effectively to staff using “non-technical terms and remain customer-service oriented.
• Knowledge of supplies, equipment and/or services for ordering and inventory control.
• Must not present a direct threat to the safety and health of self, others, or property.
• No record or disclosure of criminal conviction that indicates an ongoing tendency toward theft, violence, dishonesty, deceit, drug manufacture or sale, moral turpitude, or predatory behavior.?
• Must immediately inform supervisor of any arrests and/or convictions that occur while employed at Goodwill.
• Must provide proof of identification and eligibility to work in the United States of America.?
• Must be required to pass a drug screening and criminal background check.
• Must be able to perform essential functions of this job description with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Must have a valid California driver’s license and be insurable.
• Maintain active EPA Certification: 608 Universal Certification.
• Maintain active Gastite System Installation Certification
• Electrical Training Card Preferred

This position is a full time, non-exempt position eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance; 403(b) retirement plan; Paid Holidays, Vacation and Sick Leave. This position is employed by Goodwill Industries® of Sacramento Valley and Northern Nevada, Inc.
WORK CONDITIONS/HAZARDS:
• Occasional lifting and/or moving of objects up to 50 pounds without assistance.
• Work environment is usually fast paced with frequent short deadlines and regular instances of critical or unusual situations.
• Position is based in the field with sites including stores, Donation Xpress centers, and other Member NPO properties.
