About Alcoholics Anonymous

Founded in 1935, Alcoholics Anonymous World Services (AAWS) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and an international fellowship of people who have had a drinking problem. The Alcoholics Anonymous fellowship is nonprofessional, self-supporting, multiracial, apolitical, and available almost everywhere. The General Service Office (GSO) in the Morningside Heights neighborhood of New York City employs approximately 90 people (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and serves over 2 million members in the US and Canada.

Our mission at the GSO is to support carrying the message of Alcoholics Anonymous to the still-suffering alcoholic by providing services to A.A. members, groups, and others; publishing and distributing A.A literature, preserving A.A. history, and sharing A.A.’s collective experience. Not only is our team incredibly mission-driven, but also tremendously supportive of each other as both colleagues and individuals.

Job Summary

The Business Analyst is responsible for analysis and evaluation of existing and emerging AAWS business practices and needs as they relate to our NetSuite and systems architecture. They work to translate that understanding into support for the development and refinement of processes and systems. The ideal candidate will embrace the AAWS mission and advise department heads and business users, providing an important bridge between the business and technology teams.

Working with the project team and system implementation vendor, the focus initially is to provide needs analysis, functional and issue-resolving expertise with the goal of improving efficiencies across the functional teams. Areas supported by our NetSuite implementation and systems architecture include publishing operations, administrative and information services, online commerce, and finance. While the role will span all functional areas at times, the emphasis will be on finance and its associated functions (AR, AP, inventory costing, and financial reporting.)
