Description

LOOKING FOR A BEHAVIORAL SPECIALIST TO PROVIDE SUPPORT IN THE HOME OR SCHOOL IN GWINNETT COUNTY, GA & SURROUNDING CITIES.

Sprout Behavioral Health is a mental health and behavioral health agency serving youth in foster care.

We are currently seeking BEHAVIORAL SPECIALISTS who will earn $16-20/hour depending on experience, caseload, and expertise. Behavioral Specialists typically provide services in youth’s homes, schools, and communities in Gwinnett County, GA & the Metro Atlanta area.

Role & Responsibilities of the Behavioral Specialist:

  • Provide behavioral support and intervention services for youth and young adults.
     
  • Work with individuals at risk of school suspension, juvenile justice involvement, out-of-home placement, or those transitioning back into the community.
     
  • Transportation is a key responsibility—provide transportation to DFCS-required appointments, schools, visitation, and placements (foster/group home/facility).
     
  • Deliver skill-building and behavior management services in homes, schools, hotels, and community settings.
     
  • Supervise family visitation sessions for families working towards reunification.
     
  • Collaborate with therapists, care coordinators, caregivers, daycares, schools, and courts.
     
  • Assist individuals with personal development skills such as de-escalation techniques, communication skills, and appropriate home/social behaviors.
     
  • Maintain a caseload of up to 10-12 clients, with sessions conducted 75% in person in the community and 50% in-home to model interventions for caregivers.
     
  • Provide crisis support and notify agency staff before, during, or after crisis situations.
     
  • Timely documentation of case activities in accordance with policy.
     
  • Attend agency meetings and training sessions.
     


Requirements

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Passion for working with youth and building relationships.
     
  • Flexible, reliable, dependable, punctual, and trustworthy.
     
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision and collaboratively as part of a team.
     
  • Core knowledge of providing behavioral support and intervention.
     
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
     
  • Willingness to work weekends or weekdays as needed.
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience providing Behavioral Aide/Paraprofessional services OR a Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services-related field.
     
  • Human Services degrees include Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, Social Work, Child Development, Community Mental Health, Human Services, or Criminal Justice (with juvenile experience/DJJ).
     
  • High school diploma with 5 years’ experience in human services also accepted.
     
  • Must pass a background check.
     
  • Reliable transportation is required.
     
  • Strong administrative skills and access to the internet, a computer, and a smartphone.
     
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
     
  • Must be resourceful, independent, a critical thinker, and self-motivated.
