Water/Wastewater Hydraulic Modeling Project Engineer

Description

Join our team as a Project Engineer within our Utilities (Water/Wastewater) practice area. This is a hybrid role based out of our Cary, North Carolina office. 


In this role, you will be responsible for developing, calibrating, and analyzing hydraulic models for water distribution and wastewater collection systems. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative solutions that improve system performance and resilience. Ideal candidates have strong technical expertise in hydraulic modeling software, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain hydraulic models for various water and sewer systems
  • Analyze model results and provide data-driven recommendations
  • Support project teams with system assessments and design solutions
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for clients

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical engineering or related field
  • 4+ years of related experience in the field of specialty
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (or ability to obtain license within 12 months of hiring)      
  • Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software, including WaterGEMS, WaterCAD, SewerGEMS, SewerCAD, and PCSWMM 
  • Experience with ArcGIS and AutoCAD Civil 3D 
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis 
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities 
  • Handle multiple tasks under pressure and prioritize responsibilities
  • Highly self-motivated, able to anticipate and initiate subsequent project tasks, working independently or with minimal instruction
  • Ability and willingness to mentor and lead technical staff
  • Experience in planning, scheduling, and tracking milestones, tasks, budget, and activities
  • Experience with common statistical programming languages such as R or Python (preferred but not required)
  • Experience with wastewater process modeling software like BioWin (preferred but not required)
