The Driver I position is responsible for driving cargo/sprinter vans. The Driver I will be collecting donations from host locations to a Planet Aid Business Unit; the driver will service the sites and routes provided by Planet Aid. Once the route is determined, the driver will be responsible for collecting all bagged and loose clothes and shoes in and around the bins.
The Driver I will also be responsible for the proper maintenance of the sites, which includes cleaning and collecting all the extra rubbish disposed in and around the bins.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other responsibilities may be assigned):
- Demonstrate safe/efficient driving skills
- Comply with Federal, State, and Local laws and guidelines
- Provide good customer service and be able to communicate verbally with customers in a professional manner
- Service the donation bins designated on a route daily
- Empty the donation bin, clean and collect extra rubbish disposed of in and around the bins
- Communicate with management about problems, incidents, or safety concerns
- Must be prepared and flexible to perform associated and related job functions that are not specifically identified in this job description.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School Degree/equivalent or the equivalent combination of education and experience. One year of delivery driving experience preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear and frequently required to walk. The employee is required to drive for a sustained period of time (within DOT standards). The employee is required to stand for a long period of time. The employee is frequently required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is regularly required to push up to 300 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
EQUIPMENT AND SAFETY MEASURES:
Planet Aid vehicles are equipped with GPS and Dual Dash Cam monitoring to ensure driver safety and compliance with company policies. All drivers must maintain a good driving record and adhere to strict safety protocols, including DOT medical clearance and FMCSA compliance. Safe driving skills are crucial, especially in congested areas and adverse weather conditions, contributing to a secure work environment for all.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The employee must be able to be exposed to moving mechanical parts, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions.
