Position Summary

East House is a dedicated non-profit organization committed to supporting individuals on their journey to recovery. We provide comprehensive services, including residential support, counseling, peer support and community outreach to empower individuals to overcome mental health and substance use disorders and lead fulfilling lives. The Talent Acquisition Specialist will be responsible for sourcing, screening, and hiring qualified candidates who are passionate about supporting individuals in recovery. The incumbent will play a crucial role in ensuring that East House is staffed with individuals who are not only qualified and skilled, but also aligned with our mission and values.

Responsibilities

Talent Sourcing:

  • Develops and implements creative sourcing strategies to attract top talent, including outreach to community organizations, job boards, social media, and other recruitment channels.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with educational institutions, community groups, and professional organizations to create a pipeline of qualified talent.
  • Attends job fairs, community events, and networking opportunities to represent East House and engage potential candidates.
  • Oversees and coordinates quarterly job fairs at East House.

Screening and Interviewing:

  • Reviews resumes and applications to identify candidates who meet the organization’s needs and align with its mission.
  • Conducts initial phone screens and in-person interviews to assess candidates' qualifications, experience, and cultural fit.
  • Coordinates and schedules interviews with hiring managers, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.
  • Manages intern pool and assists with recruiting new interns.

Candidate Experience:

  • Provides a positive and supportive experience for all candidates, ensuring timely communication and transparency throughout the recruitment process.
  • Creates offer letters using ATS (Paylocity).
  • Facilitates the onboarding process for new hires, volunteers and interns, including coordinating orientation and training sessions.
  • Coordinates with other departments to ensure smooth onboarding for new hires.
  • Promotes a positive work environment to foster strong employee morale.

Collaboration:

  • Works closely with hiring managers to understand staffing needs, job requirements, and team dynamics.
  • Assists hiring managers in the development and implementation of talent screening questions.
  • Partners with the HR team to develop job descriptions, interview guides, and recruitment materials that reflect the organization’s mission and values.
  • Collaborates with program directors and other stakeholders to ensure that talent acquisition efforts align with the agency’s strategic goals.

Reporting and Compliance:

  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of candidate interactions, interview outcomes, and hiring decisions in the applicant tracking system (ATS), Paylocity.
  • Ensures compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements related to recruitment and hiring.
  • Prepares regular reports on recruitment metrics, such as time-to-fill, source effectiveness, and candidate diversity.

Other

  • Ensures compliance with policies, federal and state regulations.
  • Collaborates with the Office of Ethics, Compliance & Quality on identifying and correcting non-compliance.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field required; comparable education and experience may be considered.
  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
  • At least 5 years of recruiting experience, ideally within a non-profit or social services environment.
  • Experience recruiting for roles in healthcare, social work, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of local community resources and networks related to recovery and addiction support.

  • Strong understanding of the unique challenges and rewards of working in the recovery support field with a commitment to making a positive impact.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with candidates from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in using applicant tracking systems (ATS) such as Paylocity or ADP, social media platforms, and other recruitment tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven track record of creating, maintaining, and enhancing cross-functional relationships and communicating effectively with members of management.
  • Ability to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders of all levels.
  • Proficiency with various Microsoft applications including Excel, Outlook, and Word) and/or other computer systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multi-task. 
  • Excellent consultative skills with exceptional verbal and written communication, and presentation abilities. 
  • Exceptional active listening, persuasion, negotiation, presentation, and public speaking skills; demonstrated excellent problem-solving, coordination, critical thinking, and judgment.
  • Takes great care in ensuring words and actions align to organizational values. 
  • Valid New York State driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle to attend recruiting events and functions outside of office.

Working Conditions/Work Environment

Traditional office environment. Occasionally subjected to pressure due to time demands. Travel within the greater Rochester area. Potential for travel outside of Monroe County.
