What You'll Do

As Chief Credit Officer, you will approve loan requests within designated authority, as well as provide overall support, direction, policy and procedures for credit administration to oversee a quality loan portfolio that ensures proper risk management for safety and soundness of the bank. 


Primary Responsibilities 

  1. Advances and supports the bank’s Mission and Core Values through words, behavior, and action.
  2. Promotes change, new technology, and enhancements to current technology to improve efficiency.
  3. Active member of senior leadership team and participates in major areas of the bank to include strategic planning, budgeting, policy making, information technology, asset liability management and management of personnel. 
  4. Reviews/approves/declines credit requests to include making recommendations on large credits, loan structure, pricing as well as overall composition of loan portfolios (i.e. concentrations).
  5. Provides training, advice and guidance to the bank’s loan officers and credit administration department personnel. Provides direction to loan officers on larger and more complex loans. Coaches lenders in developing appropriate plans for the elimination of marginal, past due and problem credits. 
  6. Directs the changes in loan policy and credit administration procedures to maintain compliance with regulatory state and federal laws.  Coordinates the dissemination of loan policies, practices, and procedures. 
  7. Oversees distribution of monthly/periodic reporting to include loan quality trends, growth indicators, concentrations of loan products, problem credit reviews, allowance for loss reserves, and board reporting. 
  8. Oversight for proper risk rating of individual loans and relationships in loan portfolio.
  9. Develops and maintains knowledge of financial industry, economy, market conditions, market rates, and competition.
  10. Provides supervision over loan review audits, internal audits, compliance exams and safety & soundness exams as it pertains to the lending area.
  11. Manages direct reports to include effective communication, training and development plans, annual performance review and periodic check ins to support effectiveness of the credit and loan documentation personnel. 
  12. Oversees the bank's special assets by addressing weak credit situations, managing the collection of these credits, and facilitating the resolution of undesirable credits. Aids in the preparation of loan status reports and executes corresponding loan action plans. Compiles a special assets report for presentation to the Board of Directors for their review. 
Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or banking or equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • Specialized training in lending and credit analysis; seasoned experience with C&I lending required
  • Experience with loan documentation, SBA experience preferred
  • Experience with legal system – foreclosure, bankruptcy, litigation

Experience

A minimum of 15 years of commercial credit underwriting, commercial lending origination, and commercial portfolio management in banking, including experience in managing direct reports. Ability to create and analyze credit presentations, business correspondence, loan policies and procedures.  Ability to read, analyze, interpret and stay abreast of professional journals and business periodicals, and government regulations. 


Please note: the first year in this position requires an onsite presence, and will office from ACBT's Woodstock, IL bank.  Salary commensurate with experience.
