Position Summary:

The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for implementing, and maintaining programs and systems that ensure a safe, healthy, and environmentally compliant workplace. This role leads all efforts related to regulatory compliance, incident prevention, training, and continuous improvement in EHS performance. The EHS Manager will work collaboratively across departments to foster a culture where safety and sustainability are embedded into operations.


Key Responsibilities:

Health & Safety

  • Maintain OSHA-compliant health and safety programs, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), hazard communication, PPE, confined space entry, fall protection, etc.
  • Conduct regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and mitigate risks.
  • Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis, ensuring timely corrective actions.
  • Manage safety training programs (new hire, annual, task-specific), ensuring documentation and competency.
  • Maintain and track key safety metrics (TRIR, DART, near-miss reporting) and report to leadership.

Environmental Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations (e.g., EPA, TCEQ, RCRA, SPCC, SWPPP).
  • Manage waste disposal programs, emissions reporting, and spill prevention plans.
  • Coordinate environmental audits and respond to regulatory inspections or notices of violation.
  • Maintain required environmental records, permits, and reports.

Program Development & Culture

  • Champion a proactive safety culture and serve as the safety leader and subject matter expert.
  • Develop and implement behavior-based safety and employee engagement programs.
  • Lead safety committee meetings and cross-functional safety improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with HR, Operations, and Legal teams to align safety goals with company policies and ESG strategy.

Emergency Preparedness

  • Maintain and test Emergency Response Plans (ERP) and coordinate drills for fire, severe weather, spills, etc.
  • Serve as liaison with local emergency responders, medical providers, and regulators 
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in an EHS leadership role, preferably in construction, utilities, or energy.
  • Certifications (Preferred): OSHA 30/510/500 certification.
  • Knowledge of: OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, ANSI, and other relevant safety/environmental regulations.
  • Strong skills in incident investigation, training, data reporting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

Physical & Work Requirements:

  • Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments, including industrial or construction settings.
  • May require use of PPE and participation in field inspections or emergency response.
  • Travel weekly to construction project or asset sites. Travel outside of Texas on a quarterly or as needed basis.
