The Senior Property Accountant will be responsible for all aspects of accounting for various properties that are part of the Milhaus Management portfolio. They will review, maintain, and analyze the general ledger financial statements for assigned properties and their related partners and/or corporate entities. They will team closely with Milhaus Management, on-site property staff, and other internal stakeholders, to provide accurate financial reporting packages each month for their assigned properties. They will exhibit strong accounting, analytical and communication skills.
Essential Position Functions
- Ensure accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of revenue and expense
- Compile and analyze financial information and prepare journal entries
- Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities
- Monitor and ensure the maintenance of accounting control procedures
- Prepare monthly financial statement package and balance sheet account reconciliations
- Analyze financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and procedures, provide recommendations and implement solutions
- Partner with Property Management to provide accurate and timely response to owner requests for financial information
- Monitor property cash balances and ensure that required reserves are maintained
- Prepare property cash flow projections
- Prepare invoice package for weekly invoice payment
- Complete bank reconciliations
- Compile financial data for bank reporting and outside audits
- Participate in annual budget process; provide tax, insurance and debt data for annual budget
- Complete reasonableness review of annual budget; Upload annual budgets into financial reporting system
- Complete bank reconciliations on Milhaus Management accounts
- Reconcile Intercompany and affiliate accounts
- Assist in new property transitions
- Participate in evaluating, defining, documenting
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting required.
- 3-5+ years of Accountant experience demonstrating strong technical and analytical skills and a track record of success.
- Prior experience performing accounting duties in a real estate or property management company preferred.
- CPA preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and ability to quickly learn accounting software.
- Knowledge of property management software (Entrata, Yardi, Real Page, etc.).
- Strong communication and teaming skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and tactfully negotiate priority with end users.
- Ability to work under deadline pressure and extra hours if needed.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time/workload.
