JOB SUMMARY: Support multi-facilities in Texas as needed and directed by Clinical department. This position requires travel 100% of the time throughout the state of Texas. Participates as a member of the facilities management team in planning and administrative decision making with particular reference to the role, functions and operations of the facilities nursing services within the framework of the objectives and policies established by Caraday Healthcare plans and coordinates nursing services. In summary, is responsible for patient care, management, resource management and fiscal management. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • This position requires 100% travel throughout the State of Texas, providing leadership and clinical support
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and survey readiness for all assigned facilities
  • Assist in survey response efforts and implement corrective action plans when necessary
  • Responsible for managing, directing and supervising nursing services 
  • Define and maintain the standards of nursing practice within the facility 
  • The Traveling DON will perform various duties as assigned, including but not limited to serving as Director of Nursing (DON), Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON), Treatment Nurse and Charge Nurse 
  • Assess the quality of care rendered 
  • Help with development of policies and procedures that govern nursing services and other services under his or her position control 
  • Help in verifying team member credentials under his or her position control 
  • Responsible for overseeing staff performance, staff recruitment, staff retention and staff development is performed according to company policies
  • Responsible for collaborating with other departments and agencies regarding resources and services for improved patient care and staff development 
  • Responsible for planning, developing, and implementing a budgeted process for staffing and services rendered 
  • Plan, organize, develop, coordinate, and direct the infection prevention and control program and its activities in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern such programs
  • Evaluate the quality and cost-effectiveness of staffing and services within the goals of the facility 
  • Serve as spokesperson for nursing matters and represents the facility with professional nursing and related organizations 
  • Participate in appropriate meetings and committees Be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of team work and team concept.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations 
  • Use appropriate workplace behavior and adhere to dress code at all times 
  • Understand and adhere to the guidelines of “Residents Rights” and assure resident safety


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • Current RN license in Texas 
  • CPR certified required; 30 days will be given to complete a course and get certified
  • Ability to understand, remember and carry out verbal or written instructions in English 
  • Ability to complete assignments in a timely manner 
  • Ability to work flexibly and positively with intermittent interruptions
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal regulations related to SNF/LTC operations
  • Proven ability to adapt to changing environments and work in a flexible, “duties as assigned” role 
  • Must be able to travel with short notice and minimal restrictions


Preferred  

  • 2 years nurse management experience in long term care/skilled nursing


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The ability to safely perform movements such as pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, and reaching up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations

WORK SCHEDULE: As assigned, including some weekends, holidays and evening; on call 24 hours
