Job Summary:

Under the clinical direction of a radiologist and general supervision of the modality supervisor, and technical director perform and assist with workflow and modality coordination not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of administrative tasks that require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative to maximize patient flow. Assumes responsibility for assisting with patient care and patient safety.

  • Works closely with modality supervisor to identify tasks to improve workflow and patient retention.
  • Reviews schedules to identify appropriate documentation of orders, CPT Codes, authorization, prep and prior imaging.
  • Explains proper preparation to patients prior to procedure and verifies and/or obtains appropriate patient RX or verbal order (VO) pertinent to examinations ordered.
  • Manages work queues to identify patient safety, preparation for interventional procedures, premedication and confirmation of exams.
  • Schedules/reschedules exams as needed to meet the needs of the practice or patient.
  • Communicates effectively with referrals to ensure prompt and accurate ordering, completion of exam, and reporting via fax, written and verbal means.
  • Maintains patient care standards at all times to ensure reliable and accurate imaging and quality patient care via direct contact with staff.

Requirements

Required: High School Diploma or GED

Preferred: CPR Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Preferred: Medical training program that included medical and anatomy terminology

Preferred: Medical Assistant Certificate

Experience Required: 1 year radiology experience
