Description

The Mechanical Applications Specialist plays a critical role in translating engineering concepts into practical designs, supporting both standard and custom product development. This position is responsible for creating accurate layouts, assembly drawings, and manufacturing documents that align with customer specifications. The role involves significant travel(around 50%), including overnight stays, to job sites for reverse engineering and equipment measurement. Key responsibilities include generating precise CAD models and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless communication between engineering, manufacturing, and sales.


Essential Functions

  • Prioritize and perform all tasks with a strong commitment to safety.
  • Travel to customer locations, often requiring overnight stays, to measure equipment using hand tools and point scanners.
  • Develop detailed 2D and 3D CAD models and drawings using Autodesk/AutoCAD/Inventor software, ensuring accuracy in part manipulation and design.
  • Dimension designs precisely and create accurate assemblies and components following ANSI and ISO standard dimensioning and tolerancing practices.
  • Assist in product design based on customer drawings, sketches, sales team input, or conceptual descriptions.
  • Collaborate with customers, internal departments (customer service, sales), and the manufacturing team to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Perform program changes as needed to meet project requirements.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software, particularly Autodesk/AutoCAD/Inventor.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Demonstrated ability to read blueprints and follow routing instructions.
  • Competency in creating detailed operating procedures and technical documents.
  • Advanced mathematical skills, with the ability to solve complex problems in a fast-paced environment.
