Job Description:
Under supervision, you will conceptualize, create, modify, and update 3D solid models and detailed working diagrams of Class 1 and Class 2 Medical Devices, including dimensions, fastening methods, and other engineering information utilizing SolidWorks and various other industry standard software tools.
Specific responsibilities include making changes to engineering models and prints per the Engineering Request Process, guiding design changes through Ferno-Washington’s internal process, writing engineering changes to assist engineers, and participating in design brainstorming with engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Work with Design, NPD, R&D, and Sustainment departments on the development of products.
- Produce BOMs and Work Steps for each product.
- Use SolidWorks to modify or create new 3D solid models and working manufacturing prints for all Ferno-Washington products as assigned.
- Maintain revision status and archive previous revisions using PDM and Ferno-Washington’s ERP System.
- Work with other departments to ensure work drawings / models are up to date for all products.
- Work within an ISO 13485 quality system.
Requirements:
- Familiarity with 3D CAD design system SolidWorks a must.
- Be able communicate well with others, as they will work with stakeholders at all levels.
- Organized with attention to detail.
- Should have experience in Mechanical CAD drafting in Advanced Mechanical systems such as Aviation or similar disciplines. Medical Device design experience is a plus.
- Experience designing and specifying for a broad range of manufacturing processes including, but not limited to, conventional and CNC machining, extrusion, sheet metal, injection molding, casting and welding.
- Knowledge of ASME drafting standards and GD&T best practices is a plus.
- Capable of evaluation of designs using appropriate methods (i.e. hand calculations, FEA)
- The ideal candidate will have Associates degree in CAD / technology with a minimum of 4 years work experience. Experience in excess of 8 years may negate the Degree requirement.
