Description
- Assist existing foremen in identifying field individuals that show potential as potential future field leaders.
- Working onsite at projects with newly appointed lead workers/future potential foreman.
- Assist in training and developing field technical skills among all plumbing craftworkers.
- Supervise quality control measures and testing to ensure proper installation and functioning of systems.
- Review and update “Key Employee Manual”.
- Ensure toolbox talks and other required safety trainings are completed.
- Schedule manpower, including future needs, and staff emergency and short noticed projects
- Enforce discipline and control among field personnel to optimize production efficiency.
- Monitor project schedule to meet completion deadlines.
- Attend progress meetings as required.
- Ensure project paperwork, such as daily reports, commissioning documents, test reports, as-builts, etc….are completed accurately and in a timely fashion. Promote usage of installation check lists.
- Manage and mentor foremen to maintain a neat and organized workplace.
- Prepare and supervise the project punch list to facilitate timely completion.
- Maintain lean productive work crews, reduce crew size as needed.
- Identify productive and non-productive employees.
- Ensure all manpower requests and termination slips are sent to the proper union.
- Liaison to all unions the plumbing department operates within.
- Ensure apprentice performance evaluations are sent out to foreman and returned in a timely fashion. Assist foreman as needed.
- Assist foreman in coordination with other trades. Look for opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Fill out all new hires and terminations on a KPA form
- Oversee productivity of the service department field staff. Ensure work is being completed efficiently and address customer complaints.
- Address and resolve complaints by field superintendents, owners, or other customers.
Office:
- Notify the project manager of any additional work that arises during the project that appears to be outside of contractual scope.
- Attend and participate in weekly labor and manpower outlook meetings.
- Ensure “Current Job Listing” spreadsheet is filled out accurately, reflecting correct manpower, equipment, trailers and Connex boxes on jobsites.
- Keep an accurate spreadsheet of all current working employees.
- Assist BIM Department to ensure drawings are completed in time for fabrication and/or field installation.
- Conduct bi-annual performance reviews for Foreman.
- Mentor employees in setting and achieving personal goals.
- Schedule and attend Pre-Installation meeting at the beginning of a project. Promote usage of the Start Up Meeting Outline listed in the Key Employee Manual.
Safety:
- Enforce jobsite safety requirements for all employees and subcontractors.
- Enforce all safety rules and regulations
- Write safety violations if and when required
- Attend all pre-digs on upcoming undergrounds
Shop/Fabrication:
- Ensure fabrication drawings are produced for projects and assist in drawing fabrications as necessary.
- Oversee shop and fabrication shop operations.
- Enforce standardizations of fabrications assemblies being built. Work with Foreman, Fabrication Manager and Project manager to ensure fabrications are accurate.
- Verify the accuracy of new equipment prior to installation and report any discrepancies to the project manager.
- Schedule all equipment transfers. If the shop is unable to deliver due to equipment size, schedule with trucking company
- Identify tools and equipment no longer needed on jobsites and assist returning to the shop
- Assist with tool purchasing decisions.
- Ensure equipment maintenance is being tracked, and all preventative maintenance is being performed on a regular basis.
- Schedule and interview all potential entry level field plumbing personnel.
- Manage youth apprenticeships program in the plumbing department.
- Participate in the annual Hooper Skilled Trades Bootcamp held every spring.
