The CAF is headquartered in San Diego with regional offices in New York City, San Francisco and Boise, Idaho. This is a full-time, exempt position. The Manager will work fully remote and must be based in Los Angeles. 


Position Overview 

Are you passionate about driving growth and making a meaningful impact?  Join our team as the Manager of Development for the Los Angeles region. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, you will play a pivotal role in expanding our supporter base, increasing income generation, and enhancing mission awareness. The primary objectives of this role include cultivating and maintaining a strong network of dedicated fundraisers and donors, building the supporter base of the LA Gala, managing partner events and assisting in the development and administration of the regional budget. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

· Assist with developing, and responsible for executing the vision and strategic plan to increase engagement and reach revenue targets for the LA region. 

· Act as a catalyst for fundraising and cultivation of donors and partners through major gifts, fundraising, annual giving, corporate and foundation relations, events including partner fundraising and cultivation events, and community relations.

· Maintain a portfolio of fundraisers, donors, and partners in the region, encouraging new, subsequent and increased gifts. Solicit new supporters and steward them to make subsequent gifts.

· Support existing and new CAF events and programs in the LA region.

· Assist with the creation and execution of a new, first-class CAF signature LA Gala; ensure subsequent engagement follow up.

· Manage partner relationships with local sporting events and drive fundraising success of the peer to peer fundraising and corporate challenges.

· Serve as the local “face” of CAF. Identify and implement marketing and community relations outreach efforts to spread awareness of the mission through networking and attending key meetings & events. 

· Effectively convey the organization’s mission, vision, and programs to potential fundraisers and donors.

· Support the Chief Development Officer in their work to cultivate major donors and gifts in the region.

· Help build interaction across the community of athletes supported by CAF, connecting them to each other and supporters in the region. 



Requirements

  

· Availability to occasionally work evenings and weekends with increased responsibilities around event dates. 

· Work is performed in an office-like setting and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to lift and carry small parcels, packages and other items, to walk short distances, and drive a vehicle to attend occasional events.


Experience 

• Minimum 5 years of experience in non-profit development with a demonstrated track record in implementing successful corporate, foundation, individual giving and peer to peer fundraising campaigns.

• Experience with fundraising through special events in both social and athletic environments a plus

· Proven experience in delivering effective retention and development strategies. Ability to anticipate trends in the competitive non-profit marketplace and plan accordingly.  

· Experience managing budgets to achieve measurable income and performance goals.

· Knowledge of philanthropy and adaptive sports in the regional area. 

· A bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications, marketing, non-profit management, or a related field is a plus. 

· Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences in a variety of methods. Demonstrated strength in oral communication, including ability to persuasively present and interpret the mission, goals and programs to prospective donors.

· Experience with the preparation of proposals and reports.


Skills & Competencies

· A strong commitment to the CAF mission and to the objectives, goals, and programs of the organization.

· Knowledge of the techniques of donor/prospect research with the ability to extract and distill pertinent information from multiple sources. 

· Ability and confidence to work successfully with a variety of individuals and personalities (donors, major gift prospects, board members, athletes, etc.)

· Excellent presentation skills, showcasing the ability to engage and communicate effectively.

· Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously and delegate effectively.

· Knowledge of and proficiency in the use of computers, office equipment and software programs including Microsoft suite, Salesforce and Donor Drive (or other donor databases).

· Demonstration of utmost courtesy, confidentiality, and a collaborative and accountable approach to accomplishing work.

· Adept, confident and proven in multi-tasking, entrepreneurial non-profit or business environment.

Salary Description
$70,000.00 - $78,000.00
