INTERNSHIP (COLLEGE STUDENTS)
Description

 InterCommunity, Inc is a FQHC LA (Federally Qualified Health Center Look Alike). Our health center provides same-day primary care services to every member of the community, regardless of life situation or ability to pay. We also provide a wide array of behavioral health services. 


Our community Health Care Centers are located at 281 Main St. East Hartford, 40Coventry St. Hartford and 828 Sullivan Ave., South Windsor. InterCommunity’s Addiction Services offers a similarly wide range of substance use treatment and recovery-supportive services, with many sites in the Hartford area. 


We provide services across the spectrum of care, including primary care, residential detoxification and substance use treatment, multiple levels of residential care, outpatient substance use disorder and mental health services for adults and children, intensive outpatient programs, employment and community support, mobile crisis evaluations, judicial support services and social rehabilitation.


We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic college students to join our 1-Week Internship Program. This internship provides hands-on experience and career preparation skills in Community Health & Nonprofit work. The 1st cohort session will be Monday May 19th-Friday May 23rd 8:30am-5pm.


Interns will gain valuable experience in the inner workings of a community health network. Whether your interests lie in human resources, administration, compliance, health care management, communications, or development, this experience provides a well-rounded introduction to the dynamic world of community health centers. 


During the one-week career preparation internship, students will gain insight into working within a community health network while also developing essential entry-level skills


The program includes:

  • A resume-building workshop
  • Mock interviews
  • Various skill-building exercises
  • Mental Health & First Aide Training/Certification
  • Crisis & Trauma Training

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with team members on projects and initiatives
  • Attend meetings and contribute ideas

Requirements

 

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a four-year college program or an upcoming high school graduate
  • Hartford Promise Scholar
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Eagerness to learn and take initiative
