Job Summary
The MAGTF Training Command (MAGTFTC) mission is to Manage the Marine Air Ground Task Force Training Program (MAGTFTP) and conduct service level Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF) combined arms training to enhance the combat readiness of the operating forces and support the Marine Corps’ responsibilities to national security. The Marine Corps Tactics and Operations Group (MCTOG) mission is to provide standardized advanced training and certification to Ground Combat Element (GCE) Operations Officers, Operations Chiefs, and select other GCE training specialists in GCE operations, combined arms planning and integration, and unit readiness planning at the company, battalion, and regiment levels to support GCE Training and Readiness (T&R) events.
Per CMC mandate, MAGTFTC has established a Force-on-Force component to the Integrated Training Exercise (ITX) called the MAGTF Warfighting Exercise (MWX), which includes requirements for design and development of scenario(s), and observation, assessment, and mentorship of training unit staffs.
As a member of the Drone Video Collection Team and MWX Support Team, the Information Technology and Command and Control Integrator, or “IT/C2 Integrator,” will be primarily responsible for enabling the success of the team by providing technical skills and expertise to our video capture/drone support and MWX SME Support efforts during ITX and MWX. The work will often be in the field, alongside teammates, executing installations, testing, operating, and troubleshooting. This includes the integration of new IT and C2 technology. They will operate camera systems during the exercises and facilitate the upload of final edited products to the MCEN. They could occasionally be required to support the MCTOG IT and Modeling & Simulations (M&S) Teams with technical expertise to enable the completion of tasks. They will also be expected to support Obsidian’s Research and Development efforts with the FPV drones, Axis camera integration, and other emerging IT-related initiatives; this includes engineering tasks, refurbishing and assembling hardware as well as participating in prototype development and design.
Key Accountabilities
- Install, configure, manage, administrate, and maintain a video network to support the collection of video files from a localized, stand-alone network of video cameras and drones.
- Collaborate with base government personnel to pursue an Authorization to Connect (ATC) and an Authorization to Operate (ATO) the video network into the government networks.
- Install, configure, manage, administrate, and maintain Point to Point (P2P) communications hardware to support video network.
- Install, configure, manage, administrate, and maintain Android Tactical Awareness Kit (ATAK) hardware to support video network, Position Location Information (PLI) sharing, and communications amongst team.
- Establish a satellite-based communications capability (Starlink) to establish and maintain communications with the video network when video collection assets are beyond traditional means of communication (P2P, LTE).
- Operate SentryPOD cameras during ITX and MWX events. Download footage and provide to video editor per the guidance of the UAS Program Lead.
- Upload final edited footage of ITX and MWX events to designated location on the MCEN per the guidance of the UAS Program Lead.
- Coordinate distribution and accountability of C2 & IT equipment to Drone Video Collection Team and MWX Support Team.
- Install new software/firmware versions on sUAS, SentryPOD cameras, P2P equipment, Starlink equipment, ATAK equipment, C2 and IT equipment, and application servers.
- Ensure information assurance policies, principles, and practices are followed in the delivery of enterprise, data, and network services.
- Maintain and backup all M&S exercise data across the JLVC.
- Based on communication and data plans, build and operate tactical data services; install, configure, test, maintain, and upgrade servers and client.
- Support M&S Team as required.
- Conduct other tasks as directed by UAS Program Lead and Program Leadership.
Experience and Education
Associate’s degree in computer information systems is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience serving in data communications and networking within a military communications unit required.
- Former military experience required; USMC preferred.
- One of the following certifications is required per DODINST 8570:
- CCNA Security
- CSA+
- GISCP
- GSEC
- Security+ CE
- SSCP
Certifications desired:
- MCSA 2012 & 2016
- SQL 2012, 2014 & 2016
- Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) with Server and Desktop infrastructure, Enterprise devices and Apps and SharePoint.
- Desired knowledge in the following servers and applications, including, but are not limited, to the following:
COTS Servers:
- MS 2012/2016 Server
- MS Exchange 2013, 2016
- SQL Server 2014 and 2016
- IIS
- ESXi 6.7
- VMWARE 6.7
- Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager
- Windows Server Update Services
- Private Key Infrastructure (PKI).
- Familiarity with Axis camera systems, FLIR video cameras, unmanned drone video collection is preferred.
- FAA Pt 107 Remote Pilot Certified preferred.
- A combination of education and experience that displays the requisite skillset is considered.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Physical ability to:
- mount/dismount vehicles in a field environment
- bivouac in field environment
- climb/descend rocky mountainous terrain
- perform job in hot desert environment
- ascend/descend multiple of flights of stairs in urban training environment
- lift and carry up to 75 lbs over short distance (such as a loaded backpack)
Work environment including but not limited to:
- Occasional field/tactical environments
- occasional extended working hours/overnight bivouac will be required during execution of Force on Force exercises.
- Majority of work will be in garrison work environment
- Schedule M-F 0700 to 1700
- occasional extended working hours will be required
Travel
- Domestic travel may be required for training and program coordination.
- May be required to travel OCONUS to conduct installation, training or maintenance. Accordingly, a valid passport is required.
- Travel is estimated to be up to 30%.
