We’re currently growing our team of Artisans with a Shop Coordinator to support our Maintenance team. This role is located at our HDC (Houston Distribution Center) in Houston, TX and responsible for mechanical readiness of the RTI Mechanical Equipment. This position will help to ensure that all RTI Mechanical Rental Equipment maintenance is completed in a safe and efficient manner. All Mechanical Rental Equipment in the assigned market must be safe, reliable, and ready for use. Role emphasis will reside in three primary areas: Daily: Helping determine the prioritization of work being conducted at work center(s) with oversight of process discipline. Weekly: Helping with the scheduling of workload for the upcoming week(s). Ownership / Oversight of value-stream mapping for respective work center(s).
Duties & Responsibilities
· Provide leadership, mentorship, guidance, and coaching to shop technicians and leads with emphasis on business continuity.
· Identify training needs and help provide training to shop technicians according to RTI’s global maintenance procedures.
· Assist in overseeing the computer-based training (CBT) maintenance procedures certification program.
· Assign tasks, set priorities, and ensure work is completed in a timely and efficient manner according to project needs.
· zTrack Super User: Supervise equipment certification / ready for issue program by utilizing technology to maintenance equipment maintenance records.
· Assist in ensuring work schedules and timesheets are up to date and submitted in a timely manner.
· Supervise and maintain equipment storage areas at the HDC to ensure all equipment is stored safely and efficiently.
· Ensure safety policies and procedures are adhered to, to create a safe working environment and compliance with RTI’s safety culture.
· Help to identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and efficiency gains within the maintenance department.
· Help to implement best practices and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
· Quality Assurance experience required.
· Experience in any type of manufacturing environment or process-based discipline required.
· Documented mechanical aptitude or formal mechanical education.
· Highly organized and strong attention to detail.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to organize and maintain processes, data, and disparate information.
· Ability to learn and understand more extensive knowledge of mechanical equipment and pipe work.
· Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Products (i.e. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
· Ability to operate a forklift and use hand tools.
· Valid Driver’s License.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
· 3-5 years of experience as a Shop Coordinator experience preferred.
· 3-5 years of Quality Assurance experience preferred.
· Six Sigma, Lean, 5S, etc. experience preferred.
· Valid US Passport or ability to obtain one.
Working Conditions / Physical Demands
· Work is executed both in an office setting and in a shop type environment. On occasion, it may be required to assist in the execution of projects which require working 12-hour shifts for a week or so in an industrial site.
· At industrial sites and in the shop environment one may be required to carry equipment (up to 40 pounds), climb stairs and ladders, work in inclement weather and be on one’s feet for a 12-hour shift.
Travel Requirements
· Minimal; less than 20%.
