The Communications, Marketing and Social Media Specialist
will be a direct report of the Director of Youth and Camp Services and the Marketing Department and will sit within The J Marketing team for oversight and knowledge sharing. Specialist is responsible for taking photos and videos, updating social media, taking photos for future marketing, building our weekly newsletter and uploading photos on private photo sharing platforms. Specialist will work with J Marketing Team to ensure consistent branding. Specialist will also oversee the creation of a newsletter template and oversee the weekly newsletter creation and weekly all camp videos. Can step into camp groups if needed. Handles camp’s communication platform.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Capture, edit and upload photos and videos of campers to document camp fun/activities
· Posts on social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, and amplify official J social media as necessary
· Creating a weekly video newsletter for families
· Post weekly photos per camp on private photo sharing platforms
· Craft weekly email for parents the following week
· Craft email and text communications that will be sent to parents
· Monitor communications via camp app and support camp team as needed through the platform
· Regularly walk around camp and photograph special events or high-profile activities
· Meet with J Digital Marketing Manager periodically to collaborate on overall social media strategy
· Provide an atmosphere for developing good morale and well-being among all staff
· Ensure that programs are aligned with J values and provides a culturally rich Jewish based camp experience while promoting a welcoming environment for all
· Monitor safety, including enforcement of staff compliance to all policies as they pertain to the complete supervision of all campers and staff
· Other Duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS / LOCATION: Exposed to outdoor weather, extreme heat and health club environment
SCHEDULE: Non-Exempt Seasonal Full-time
· Mandatory Training Work:
· Training on May 18, 21, 22, and 23 (flexible if informed)
· Camp Season May 27th to July 31st
o Camp cleanup day Friday, August 1st
o Only allow up to 10 days off
· Camp Hours: 8:00am to 4:00pm
· As well as department events as directed
· Hours may vary depending on camp needs
COMPENSATION: $16.50+ per hour
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / DEMANDS:
· Able to stand for prolonged time in a classroom setting
· Must be able to work in an outside environment, in excessive heat and walk, stand and sit for prolonged periods of time.
· Must be capable of lifting 30 pounds and carry and move tables, chairs, and other program equipment.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE/ SPECIALIZED TRAINING:
· At least 18 years of age
· At minimum 3 years’ experience in area of specialty (Art, Makers Space, Judaica, Sports, Cooking, Mindfulness/PJ Library)
· Commitment and ability to work f ull 10 weeks of camp and training dates
· Minimum 1-year professional experience working with youth grades K-12
· Minimum 1-year experience working with photography and social media
· Previous teaching or youth leadership experience is preferred
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
· Current First Aid and CPR certification (employees’ responsibility to obtain)
· Pass TB test (employees’ responsibility to obtain)
· Pass fingerprint clearance (employees’ responsibility to obtain)
