Description

PURPOSE STATEMENT


The PET/CT Technologist plays a vital role in providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services that contribute to accurate diagnoses and effective treatment planning. This position is dedicated to enhancing patient care through precision imaging, ensuring patient comfort, and upholding the highest standards of safety and professionalism. By delivering reliable and timely imaging results, the technologist supports the organization's mission to improve health outcomes and advance medical excellence.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Review requisitions, check and prepare equipment and supplies.
  • Identify, interview, and screen patient for proper preparation and for allergies to contrast materials. Consult with radiologist, or attending physician as needed.
  • Explain procedure to patient, position patient on table and use appropriate protocol for exam ordered.
  • Knowledgeable on lab tests needed prior to exam.
  • Schedule and/or Reschedule patients as needed.
  • Able to enter exams in Radiology Information System and PACS.
  • Provide Radiologists with proper history for complete diagnosis.
  • Review/evaluate completed images for quality, completeness and type of test ordered.
  • Maintain established department policies, procedures, objectives, and quality.
  • Assist in care and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and supplies. Keep work areas clean. Maintain supply levels.
  • Must adhere to hospital dress code.
  • Attend in-service meetings and other meetings as required. Attendance of 50% of all department meetings is required.
  • Able to send images to both cloud systems.
  • Perform duties of PET/CT Technologist as needed.
  • Perform other duties as directed by Diagnostic Imaging Director.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance. 
Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program, Nuclear Medicine, or a related field.
  • Completion of a PET/CT training program is preferred.
  • Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in PET/CT imaging or a related modality is desirable.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to sit and stand intermittently 8 to 10 hours a day.
  • Must be able to use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard.
  • Continuously works under pressure of nearly 100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines.
  • Continuously utilizes manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing.
  • Frequently stands, walks, sits, and utilizes eye/hand coordination and color definition.
  • Occasionally reaches above shoulder, regularly required to lift and/or carry up to 40 lbs.
