Center of the Plate- Poultry Buyer
Description


Join our dynamic team as a Center of the Plate Poultry Buyer, where you will play a crucial role in sourcing and procuring high-quality poultry products that meet our company's standards for excellence. In this position, you will be part of the team focused on working directly with vendors and sales daily to ensure all products are in stock at market-fair prices. Collaborating closely with suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring a consistent supply of products to support our operations. Your expertise will contribute to our commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences. Commodity Buyers oversee 25MM pounds or $100MM or more in annual purchases for the company.


Requirements
  • Purchasing and Negotiation – the ability to negotiate POs and products daily.
  • Responsible for hitting all financial targets and profit margins on all assigned categories.
  • Assures pricing on all items is market-relevant every day.
  • Buying and product training – the ability to work with and train fellow buyers on processes and items.
  • Travel – (15% expected)
  • Responsible for maintaining a vendor review Schedule of a minimum of 2 reviews annually with all vendors, scheduled well in advance with purchasing leadership and marketing.
  • Creates and maintains proper stock levels and inventory values.
  • Always maintains proper stock levels and inventory values.
  • Able to strategize and execute long-term buys to exceed profit targets.
  • Finds and grows new vendor partnerships constantly
  • Help train replenishment and apprentice buyers daily. 
  • Other tasks may be assigned from time to time

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Most work is performed in a standard office or remote setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards; substantial time is spent working on a computer. 
  • Working in a local wet environment for limited times, when necessary, in the Warehouse is also required.


EDUCATION REQUIRED

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Two years commodity level purchasing is required, preferably in proteins. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.


OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED  

  • Ability to multi-task, strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to follow directions, ability to work independently. 
  • Always professionally conduct oneself. 
  • Must be able to also work as part of a team.
