The Per Diem/PRN Preadmission Testing RN ensures the timely organization of all necessary preoperative documents and testing in collaboration with physician offices, anesthesia, and scheduling staff. This specialized RN has a firm nursing foundation and knowledge of laboratory parameters, ASC guidelines for safe patient populations, and disease processes.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
2. Consults surgery schedule daily and works closely with scheduling and front office staff
3. Functions as a team member with front office staff, anesthesia, and perioperative services staff to ensure appropriate patient selection and workflow
4. Applies nursing process to each patient assessment identifying patient diagnoses and problems and implementing appropriate interventions
5. Provides thorough assessment throughout patient preoperative phone call to ensure all patient medications, diagnoses, and preoperative testing are present and documented
6. Collaborates with all physician offices to ensure all necessary paperwork is obtained promptly prior to patient scheduling.
7. Call each patient to gather all necessary and pertinent information, including patient medications, diagnoses, labs, etc.
Qualifications:
Required:
· Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office
· Associate degree in nursing from an accredited school
· Active, unrestricted RN license in State of Practice
Preferred:
· PAT RN experience
· Knowledge of billing and insurance practices
· Bachelor’s degree in nursing
