The STEM Alliance, on behalf of the New York State Digital Equity Network (NYSDEN), seeks an experienced Project Manager to oversee the process of formalizing NYSDEN as a 501c3 nonprofit organization. This role will ensure timely, compliant, and efficient execution of all activities related to incorporation, while also interacting with current NYSDEN members to provide regular updates and engage with any relevant subcommittees to support the 501c3 formation process.
Position Summary:
The STEM Alliance, on behalf of the New York State Digital Equity Network (NYSDEN), seeks an experienced Project Manager to oversee the process of formalizing NYSDEN as a 501c3 nonprofit organization. This role will ensure timely, compliant, and efficient execution of all activities related to incorporation, while also interacting with current NYSDEN members to provide regular updates and engage with any relevant subcommittees to support the 501c3 formation process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the overall timeline and deliverables for NYSDEN’s 501c3 nonprofit formation.
- Serve as the primary liaison between The STEM Alliance, NYSDEN membership and leaders, and the legal consultant managing the incorporation process.
- Select the legal consultant and assist with executing the legal consultant’s contract
- Track progress, ensure deadlines are met, and troubleshoot barriers to timely completion.
- Provide monthly progress reports to NYSDEN members.
- Assist with organizing and documenting monthly any NYSDEN meetings related to the project.
- Maintain project documentation and deliverables for reporting and reimbursement purposes.
Excluded Responsibilities:
- This position will not lead NYSDEN’s ongoing strategic planning, advocacy, or digital equity programming.
- The contractor will not represent NYSDEN in public forums, fundraising efforts, or make decisions about programmatic direction unrelated to nonprofit formation.
- This is not an ongoing administrative role beyond the scope and duration of this contract.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven experience managing nonprofit formation processes or complex project coordination roles in the nonprofit sector.
- Familiarity with 501c3 incorporation requirements and/or working with legal or compliance professionals.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working with grassroots or statewide coalitions, nonprofit organizations, or mission-driven initiatives.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
- Familiarity with digital equity or community-centered technology initiatives is a plus.
More Specifics
Location: Remote with occasional in person meetings in The STEM Alliance’s offices in Mamaroneck, NY as needed
Contract Duration: Anticipated as 12 months but will continue until the 501c3 is achieved
Time Commitment: Approximately 20 hours per month
Hourly Rate: $35–$50/hour, based on experience
