Maintenance Technician
Description

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Technician will perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems.  

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair.
  • Troubleshoot and repair all electrical and mechanical problems in facility.
  • Plans repair work using blueprints or equipment manual as needed.
  • Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. 
  • Performs the maintenance (predictive and preventative) of equipment and processes in support of the company’s production and growth objectives.
  • Responsible for performing preventative maintenance tasks and completing associated documentation in a timely manner.
  • Performs work and assists in maintaining operations in compliance with applicable policies and OSHA regulations
  • Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities.
  • Train production operators on the safe operation and minor maintenance of plant equipment.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts and overtime as needed. 
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.  
Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to follow instructions from Maintenance Managers or Department Manager.
  • Work in a team environment with the ability to communicate in a concise, polite, and respectful manner but maintain individual drive.
  • Ability to complete projects or assigned tasks in timely manner. 
  • Ability to support and participate in continuous improvement activities. 
  • Knowledge of basic math skills including counting, adding, subtracting, measuring, etc. 
  • Knowledge with reading and understanding blueprints.
  • Knowledge of general carpentry, electrical, and repair.
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience with troubleshooting issues and making repairs on bearings, chains, gearboxes, conveyors, etc.
  • Strong understanding/background in 24V DC, 120VAC, single phase, 220/240 VAC, 480 VAC, and 3 phase.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Manufacturing experience working independently by the timely completion of preventative and condition-based maintenance requirements on presses, hydraulic systems, engines, motors, pumps, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines
  • Manufacturing experience following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions and engineering specifications to trouble shoot malfunctions. 
  • On-the-job training offered.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods working on feet, performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending, stooping, twisting, lifting, reaching, pushing and pulling.
  • Must be physically able to climb ladders or crawl into awkward spaces.
  • Must be able to 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds consistently. 
  • Visual acuity necessary to perform job task safely and effectively.
