Milestone Recovery is here to provide the best quality of services to empower individuals with substance use and behavioral health disorders to attain stability, dignity, recovery, and an enhanced quality of life. We have an opening for a part time or full time cook at our Portland location. Milestone Recovery is a low barrier facility that allows clients to access services no matter the status of their insurance coverage. This allows our staff at Milestone Recovery to function in a more client-centered way. The voices of our staff are greatly valued in implementing changes, encouraging improvements, and promoting the overall care and wellbeing of the clients who Milestone Recovery serves.

Position Profile: Cooks are responsible for the day-to-day meal preparation and nutritional needs of the clients in the detoxification and shelter programs.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner for an estimated 30-60 headcount/meal?
- Keep kitchen, dining area and food storage clean, organized and in good condition
- Follow all state and federal food safety regulations
- Control and log temperatures for all equipment
- Stay within established budget for the food service
- Monitor and provide for the dietary needs of the clients?
- Establish a weekly menu?
- Control inventory and food cost
- Obtain necessary supplies for the kitchen, including weekly grocery shopping
- Attend occasional program staff meetings and appropriate trainings
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical demands and work environment: Freedom of movement on a regular basis. Operating kitchen equipment in a normal full service kitchen environment. Ability to lift up to 50lbs. May spend extended periods walking, twisting, bending, standing and lifting.
High school diploma or GED equivalent. A valid Maine state driver’s license is required. A minimum of 1 year of institutional cooking experience. SERVE Safe certified is a plus.
