The Senior Loan Closing Specialist is responsible for all aspects of the loan closing process, including loan document preparation, reviewing title commitments, processing, and funding of church loans. This person will prepare, review, and verify all applicable loan documentation and required real estate due diligence items necessary for loan closings. This person will work closely with church staff, title companies, and attorneys with minimal oversight to ensure efficient and accurate loan closings. They will also provide guidance and support to other Loan Closing Specialists.
This person must represent the organization well both internally and externally and is comfortable communicating with Loan Officers, Senior Pastors, Board members, attorneys, and title companies. This position requires multitasking in a fast-paced environment, being poised under pressure, embracing change, and grace in relating with others.
- Process new loans from approval to closing.
- Prepare, email and track mail vote for WIF Board/Executive Committee loan approval.
- Monitor and update internal lists tracking loans in process and mail vote to assist with internal organization and coordination.
- Prepare and send closing instruction letters to title company and/or attorney.
- Drafting/modifying loan documents, including loan agreements, promissory notes, mortgages/deeds of trust, and related documents and record mortgages and deeds of trust in 50 states using CSC or similar electronic systems, as necessary.
- Review surveys and title commitments in preparation for closing.
- Review credit files, loan proposals or commitment letters, loan approvals, church/District approvals, loan checklists, loan documents, and any other related documents in preparation for closing to ensure approval conditions were met and file completeness.
- Communicate with churches, title companies and attorneys (phone and email).
- Set-up loan closing and hand off all required documents to the Loan Funding Manager for wiring of funds and booking loans to the organization’s Core system.
- Review loan documents and provide guidance to other Loan Closing Managers to ensure all aspects of the loan closing are within the organization’s loan operation guidelines.
- Scan and index all loan documentation.
- Assist with the ongoing monitoring and management of loan collateral and security, including but not limited to insurance coverage, UCC filings, preparation and/or review of partial mortgage releases, satisfaction of mortgages, and sending ‘paid in full’ documents to churches.
- Assist in training new Loan Closing Managers.
- All other duties, requirements and responsibilities as assigned by the President, Chief Lending Officer, and/or Director of Loan Operations.
Work Experience Requirements
- 5+ years of commercial and/or church loan operation experience.
- Experience in commercial real estate.
- Ideal candidate would have experience with Jack Henry/Laser Pro.
- Superior attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Flexible and able to work on multiple projects simultaneously and timely.
- Service-oriented and team-oriented.
- Enjoys and actively participates in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
