Job Summary:

We seek a dynamic and results-driven Director of Government Sales to lead our efforts in expanding our market share, primarily within governments. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully selling complex services to government agencies. This role requires a strategic thinker with exceptional communication and relationship-building skills to navigate the intricacies of complex institutional structures and track a rapidly changing government environment.


Requirements

Strategic Sales Leadership:  

  • Execute our firm’s government sales strategy, overseeing sales and marketing campaigns in multiple industries.  
  • Achieve revenue targets and expand market penetration.   
  • Identify and prioritize key government agencies and opportunities primarily at the state level.
  • Analyze market trends and the competitive landscape to identify emerging opportunities and refine sales strategies.
  • Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline, accurately forecasting revenue and managing sales activities.
  • Work closely with the CEO and SMEs to manage sales presentations.

Relationship Management and Business Development:

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and influencers within government agencies.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events.
  • Conduct in-depth needs assessments and develop tailored solutions to address the specific challenges of government clients.

Proposal Development and Contract Negotiations:

  • Collaborate with our proposal writing team to ensure compelling proposals and responses to RFPs, RFQs, and other government solicitations align with the strategic vision. 

Team Leadership and Collaboration:

  • To support the company's growth, build and mentor a high-performing government sales team.
  • Collaborate with marketing to develop targeted campaigns and sales collateral.
  • Provide regular sales reports and updates to senior management on results.
  • Work closely with client services to ensure a smooth transition for new client projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field. Equivalent experience and education may be considered. Writing samples will be required.  
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in government sales, with a proven track record of exceeding sales targets.
  • A solid understanding of government procurement processes, regulations, and contracting vehicles (e.g., GSA Schedule, government contracts).
  • A strong network of contacts within government agencies is needed.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Experience selling complex service solutions, preferably in grant management or compliance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree.  
  • Experience selling to the state and federal government.
  • Prior experience managing a diverse team of sales and creative talent.  
  • Knowledge of grant compliance is highly preferred.
  • Experience working within the public sector.
