This is how you will grow:

The Engineer – Home Design and Construction - applies design principles, analytical techniques, and three-dimensional computer-aided design software skills to support and oversee the design and/or development of product concepts, components, or assemblies. The Engineer will direct the design of structures and / or systems included in residential buildings and guide the creation of three-dimensional models of designs and assemblies and two-dimensional drawings of components and assemblies, as well as creation of various studies and documentation of activities related to the creation and development of components and assemblies.  

  

  • Maintain and apply knowledge of the latest residential building design practices, materials, technology, and construction methods.
  • Maintain and apply knowledge and research of latest residential building codes per assigned building system (electrical / plumbing / HVAC / structure / etc.) for the area of final construction.
  • Support design team in the creation of 2-D drawings and 3-D component / assembly design data using CAD software.
  • Execute data management procedures as directed by the company to properly track files and revision levels of drawings and components.
  • Understand the customer’s requirements for performance, materials, and manufacturing methods. Support creation of designs based on these requirements.
  • Communicate/coordinate activities between program management, engineering, design, customer representatives and corporate representatives.
  • Conduct design reviews with internal team and with customers during the development process.
  • Support creation of Bill of Materials, ensuring all required components are included and all component costs are tracked in the BOM, to achieve overall material cost targets.
  • Perform analysis for manufacturing feasibility of customer concepts, and component designs per the customer’s manufacturing processes to achieve assembly / labor cost targets.
  • Coordinate with engineers / designers of other systems in the residential design to ensure compatibility / avoid build issues between systems.
  • Apply best practices for design of specific components per the materials used, manufacturing methods used, and finishes used on the product.
  • Provides technical support and follow-up on Design/Product Validation activities.
  • Maintain an open issue list for engineering issues and task timelines as required.
  • Support Program Management as needed.
  • Communication of design-related and timing-related issues to Design and Program Management.
Requirements

This is how you will take us forward:

  • 3 to 5 years of building design / engineering experience in one of the following the areas - structures, HVAC, plumbing, electrical hardware and routing, interiors / exteriors.  
  • Experience using Revit design software including BIM Collaborate preferred.  Will also consider candidates with building design experience and experience with CATIA V5 or Siemens NX CAD software. 
  • Experience with single-family homes preferred.
  • BS degree in related field, or certifications in the fields of Architectural Design, or equivalent job experience preferred.
