Description
Job Purpose
Under general supervision, is responsible for accurately coding and assigning ICD-10 codes for all services, procedures, and treatments rendered.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Code for all services, procedures, and treatment rendered by assigned providers.
- Communicate effectively with providers and healthcare staff to resolve coding related issues to ensure accurate billing.
- Actively participate in educational activities to enhance coding knowledge and stay informed on current coding trends, updates, and industry changes.
- Maintains strictest confidentiality as related to HIPAA.
- Performs related duties as required.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding.
- Demonstrates professional customer service skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Working knowledge of relevant policies and regulations.
- Ability to flexibly respond to changing demands.
- Works effectively as a team member with physicians and other staff.
Qualifications
- Experience in pediatric medical coding or coding in a primary care physician setting is highly desirable.
- Certification in Medical Coding required (e.g., Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent).
