Description


Job Purpose

Under general supervision, is responsible for accurately coding and assigning ICD-10 codes for all services, procedures, and treatments rendered.


Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Code for all services, procedures, and treatment rendered by assigned providers.
  2. Communicate effectively with providers and healthcare staff to resolve coding related issues to ensure accurate billing.
  3. Actively participate in educational activities to enhance coding knowledge and stay informed on current coding trends, updates, and industry changes.
  4. Maintains strictest confidentiality as related to HIPAA.
  5. Performs related duties as required.
Requirements

  

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding.
  2. Demonstrates professional customer service skills.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  4. Working knowledge of relevant policies and regulations.
  5. Ability to flexibly respond to changing demands.
  6. Works effectively as a team member with physicians and other staff.

Qualifications

  1. Experience in pediatric medical coding or coding in a primary care physician setting is highly desirable.
  2. Certification in Medical Coding required (e.g., Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent).
