What you'll be doing
You’re joining a summer camp team where roles and tasks are collaborative and shared. As a Lifeguard you’ll be a critical team member ensuring the safety of our campers at all times at the pool, serving a population of campers with limited swim experience, most of them being introduced to the water for the first time.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Reporting to the Aquatics Supervisor and Lead Administrator, you’ll work as part of a team keeping our campers safe during their swim time. The duties for this role include, but are not limited to:
- Serve as a lifeguard for a program that serves up to 245 children grades 1-5
- Enforce all pool rules in a consistent manner
- Ensure the safety of all campers while in the pool area (e.g. locker rooms, pool deck and in the water)
- Identify potential accident hazards, maintaining vigilance and alertness to prevent accidents and minimize risk
- Respond quickly, intelligently, decisively and in accordance with established emergency and accident management procedures
- Administer first aid and CPR as required per certification training
- Stay informed and aware of safety devices such as Defibrillator
- Collaborate & communicate with other lifeguards and supervisors
- Facilitate public relations with a positive and professional attitude, courtesy and tact
- Fill out appropriate reports as needed
- Participate fully in orientation experiences and weekly staff meetings
- Assist all counselors with logistics of entering and exiting the locker rooms and pool area
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by supervisors
- Lead recreation experiences on days when the pool is closed and during our other special days
What you bring

Requirements:
- Must possess current Lifeguard certification from a NYS approved agency
- Must possess current CPR certification from a NYS approved agency
- Must have previous experience as a lifeguard and swim instructor
- Must be at least 16 years old
- Availability to work the entire camp season and attend all required orientations and trainings
All employees must:
- Posses a valid social security card and NYS state identification
- Pass a background check with fingerprint approval if you are not a Mamaroneck School District employee (we will provide instructions as part of the onboarding process)
- Provide two professional references
REQUIRED PROGRAM DATES & TIMES:
- Camp-season:
- June 30, 2025 to August 8, 2025 (No camp July 4th)
- 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Regular camp days
*all program start and end times/dates subject to change until program design is complete by June 1st
