Position Overview:

This position Provides essential accounting functions, analysis, reporting, and departmental systems leadership for all of the Walton Arts Center entities.   Requirements: computer proficiency; organization; accuracy; ability to work within a team; effective communication skills; self-directed; able to sit for long periods and perform keyboarding tasks. The ideal candidate possesses an aptitude for numbers/quantitative skills; ability to think critically and solve problems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the monthly closing process, including reconciling all balance sheet accounts and preparing financial statements.
  • Review and post invoices for payment and invoices created for clients—accuracy is key!
  • Assist with preparations for the annual audit and support the Finance Director throughout the process.
  • Take charge of Accounts Receivables, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of revenue.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly departmental Profit & Loss (P&L) reports, making sure managers understand and can act on the financial data.
  • Prepare and submit monthly sales and use tax reports.
  • Conduct financial analysis as needed or requested by management.
  • Become proficient in Financial Edge, Tessitura, and any other adopted systems to support financial and administrative functions—take the lead in training others on these tools.
  • Build professional relationships with banks, Board members, vendors, clients, and patrons to ensure smooth business operations.
  • Represent Walton Arts Center / Walmart AMP at both on- and off-site events, bringing your positive energy and professional skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor, because we love adaptability!

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business (Accounting or Finance preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • A passion for numbers and an eye for detail.
  • Comfortable with computers and accounting software—bonus points for experience with Financial Edge or Tessitura!
  • Ability to stay calm, cool, and collected under pressure, all while meeting deadlines and maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with a variety of people—whether it’s your teammates, managers, or clients.
  • Self-directed, organized, and driven to complete tasks with accuracy.
  • Ability to think critically, solve problems, and be versatile in your approach.

Preferred Experience:

  • At least two years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting—experience in non-profit organizations is a plus.
  • Familiarity with financial systems and software is a huge plus (we’ll get you up to speed with Financial Edge and Tessitura if you’re not already!).
