Pepin Distributing Company, LLC is a leading beverage distributor in the Tampa Bay area and distributes a broad selection of domestic, import, craft beers, craft and canned spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages and waters. Position Overview

The Fleet Manager directs the operation of the company’s vehicle maintenance facility by managing a group of mechanics engaged in the repair, reconditioning, and servicing of miscellaneous automotive and allied company equipment ranging from automobiles, vans, light trucks, heavy trucks, forklifts, pallet jacks, and including specialized apparatus and equipment.


Essential Functions

Fleet Management:

  • Makes general assignments and advises mechanics on difficult tasks
  • Coordinate fleet maintenance operations and scheduling to ensure availability of vehicles and equipment
  • Supervise major and minor repairs to all vehicles and equipment
  • Advises and assists subordinates in major repairs and difficult diagnostic and mechanical or refurbishment work
  • Handles after hours emergency calls
  • Maintains bulk fuel storage inventory and processes weekly fuel transactions
  • Approve, review, and process all department parts purchases and expenditures
  • Schedule duties, hours/days off for Fleet Maintenance employees
  • Establish preventative maintenance schedule for Company fleet
  • Determine the need for vehicles to be removed from service or repairs based upon inspection or driver reported problems
  • Assist in the training/development of new maintenance employees
  • Maintain accurate service and safety records on company vehicles and equipment
  • Negotiate with suppliers and ensure purchases of parts and supplies are performed on a timely basis
  • Develop, recommend, implement, and manage the department’s annual budget and business plan
  • Conduct employee performance evaluations
  • Ensure that team members adhere to all safety requirements and procedures. Continually analyze the company’s working environment and recommend improvements to safety procedures
  • Adheres to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Act
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Valid State of Florida Class “A” CDL.
  • Follow safety rules and keep work area in a clean, orderly condition.
  • Use hand and hand-powered tools, jack stands, hoists, and other similar tools.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good decision-making capabilities


Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have advanced knowledge for management of people, complex problems and efficient service activities; ability to investigate and analyze current activities or information in the automotive repair industry and make logical conclusions and recommendations; ability to make decisions based on established policies and procedures; advanced knowledge of diesel and gas engines, transmissions, electrical systems, A/C systems and tire/brake repairs; CDL-A license; good driving record; ability to operate personal computer


  • Knowledge of: 
  1. Pepin Distributing Company’s working structure, policies, mission, and strategies, as well as the Delivery Department’s overall mode of operations 
  2. Detailed job duties and expectations for all Service Representative, Assistant Service Rep. Route Assistants Route Helpers positions  


  • Ability to:
  1. Operate standard office equipment and using required software applications to produce correspondence, reports, electronic communication, spreadsheets  
  2. Deliver clear, effective, and professional instruction and coaching 
  3. Think logically to analyze and solve problems 
  4. Organize, manage, and track multiple detailed tasks and assignments across various job functions with frequently changing priorities and deadlines  
  • Eight (8) years of industry experience; Ten (10) years preferred. 
  • Strong verbal, written communication and presentation skills 
  • Knowledge of best practices in sales and delivery operations, and ability to drive and implement change in a complex environment 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 
  • Strong leadership, influence skills, professionalism, ability to maintain confidentiality 
  • Knowledge of industry safety and Department of Transportation requirements 
  • Excellent communication, organizational and assertive skills.
  • Must have a valid Florida CDL Class A license and driving record within MVR      policy guidelines
  • Able to maintain Class A-CDL and medical card
  • Able to handle alcohol, and work within regulatory guidelines
  • Must have a smart phone with a camera and data capability


The Physical Requirements

  • Talk, hear, and see (including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus)
  • Must be able to perform physically demanding work, to include ability to lift 125lbs      and the ability to frequent bend, squat, and climb repetitively, ability      to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time. 
  • Must be able to pass DOT Physical and Drug Screen
  • Must be able to shift a manual transmission vehicle
  • Must be able to pass DOT Physical and Drug Screen

Salary Description
$90,000 - $120,000 per year
