Description
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Excavator Operator to join our construction team. As an Excavator Operator, you will play a crucial role in operating heavy machinery to perform various tasks, including excavation, earthmoving, and site preparation for construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and control excavators to perform tasks such as digging, trenching, grading, and loading/unloading.
- Follow project plans, grade stakes, and instruction from foremen/superintendents to determine the scope and sequence of excavation tasks.
- Conduct pre-operation equipment checks to ensure proper functioning of the excavator.
- Safely maneuver the excavator on construction sites, maintaining awareness of the surroundings and avoiding hazards.
- Operate attachments such as buckets, hydraulic hammers, grapples, and augers to perform specific tasks.
- Collaborate with other construction crew members and communicate effectively to ensure efficient workflow and project coordination.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on the excavator, such as lubricating, cleaning, and inspecting equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Adhere to safety regulations and best practices to prevent accidents, injuries, and damage to property.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, maintenance needs, or safety concerns to supervisors.
- Load and unload materials from trucks and other vehicles.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as an Excavator Operator
- Expertise in operating excavators and related heavy machinery
- Knowledge of construction site operations, including earthmoving and excavation techniques
- Ability to work efficiently and safely while maintaining high standards of precision and productivity
- Field test will be required for candidates under final consideration
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven proficiency in operating excavators and associated controls
- Proven proficiency in operating excavators and associated controls
- Solid understanding of construction processes, including site preparation and excavation techniques
- Strong knowledge of safety protocols, hazard identification, and safe work practices to ensure a secure job site
- Physically fit and capable of sitting for extended periods while maintaining precision with controls
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support teamwork and job site coordination
- Able to stand, walk, push, pull, climb, crawl and bend for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds)
- Able to work in outdoor environments 95% of the time in various weather conditions
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work
