Job Description for:   Team Lead-Stamping

Purpose of Job:  

This position reports to the Team Supervisor-Stamping and Shift Manager-Stamping and is responsible for effectively overseeing all daily operations of the stamping group, and keeping the jobs running as productively as possible.

Minimum level of education / training required/certificates/licenses: 

This position requires a General Educational Diploma (GED) or High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma.

Minimum experience required: 

Must be able to, competently, perform all the duties of a Stamping Operator.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Knows how to run all jobs in the team accurately.

2. Maintains adequate quality in the team and knows how to inspect parts per the Process Quality Control Table (PQCT, a.k.a. checksheet), and can assist/train operators in these tasks.

3. Successfully assists and performs job set-ups in the team.

4. Competently assists operators in running and setting up jobs in the team.

5. Accurately trains operators in the process of running jobs in the team.

6. Ability to successfully troubleshoot basic problems with jobs in the team.

7. Knows how to accurately check and adjust all safety devices, and die protection devices in the team.

8. Willingly assist in hanging coils, starting strips, changing crates, etc.

9. Is responsible for seeing that all documentation for the team is done in a timely manner. (Work center logs, PQCT’s, layered audits, etc.)

10. Adequately assists tool room when possible.

11. Safely operates a forklift to assist forklift drivers when possible.

12. Assures that all required processes are properly followed in the team

13. Follows and enforces defined rules and regulations accurately as specified in the employee manual.

14. Actively participates in group problem solving meetings, daily shift change meetings, and weekly team lead meetings

15. Maintains regular interaction with quality and tooling associates, to help in communication of daily operations.

16. Knows process flow and assures that all required processes are properly followed in the group.

17. Adequately schedules associates in the group to satisfy production needs.

18. Responsible for thorough housekeeping and safety in the team

19. Effectively understands all equipment in the team.

20. Competently assists associates on all day to day production problems.

21. Ensures all parts are properly contained and in the correct containers.

22. Successfully reviews weekly efficiency reports, determines reasons for problems, and implements and tracks improvements.

23. Oversees the team hold area and is responsible to competently train operators on a job by job basis on sort/rework procedures. Ensures that the hold tag copies are used adequately.

24. Based on company needs a flexible work schedule and/or overtime is needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position supervises operators, inspectors, and forklift drivers in their group.

Adhere to 5S: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain.

Environmental: Employee is responsible for complying and supporting any environmental policies and programs put in place by Batesville Tool and Die, Inc. (BTD). Employee may not bring any environmentally hazardous substances or compounds into BTD and is always conscious of the impact on the environment. Support and adhere to Technical Specification (TS) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) activities and procedures.

Other:  Perform any other duties as assigned with enthusiasm and without complaint. 

        

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee is continually required to work around machinery. The employee is frequently required to push or pull pry bars or wrenches. Work inside bolster ram area of presses, and drive a forklift. The employee will also be required to frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

Environmental Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to loud conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to hot/humid conditions.

Travel

Occasional domestic travel may be required for this position.
