We’re looking for a warm, upbeat, and service-minded individual to join our team as a Guest Services Café Attendant. This role is all about creating memorable, positive interactions with every guest who walks through our doors. Think of yourself as the welcoming face of the café—offering guidance, answering questions, and ensuring a smooth, happy experience from start to finish. 

This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a front-of-house environment, enjoys fast-paced teamwork, and can confidently operate a POS system in a fully cashless setting.

Essential Functions: 

· Welcome every guest with a genuine smile, friendly energy, and helpful attitude. 

· Represent Blue Plate’s “Care More” core value in every interaction—go the extra mile to make someone’s day. 

· Assist guests in navigating the menu, understanding offerings, and answering questions about products and services. 

· Operate the POS system confidently and accurately – this is a cashless operation, so no money handling required. 

· Maintain a tidy, inviting café space that reflects the quality of our service and offerings. 

· Help maintain a smooth guest flow, monitor for any needs, and provide proactive support. 

· Restock service areas and supplies to ensure seamless experience for guests and team members. 

· Support daily opening, mid-shift, and closing tasks as needed. 

· Follow company policies and food safety guidelines to maintain a clean, safe environment. 

· Collaborate with your team and be ready to jump in wherever needed. 

· Take initiative and follow through on tasks assigned by management. 

· Reports and documents any observed or known safety hazards, conditions or unsafe practices and procedures to management immediately. 

· Follow cleaning schedule as designated by the Manager, maintain highest quality of areas at all times. 

· Report to work in proper uniform as outlined in the Company’s Dress Code Policy. 

· Performs closing procedures as assigned by manager. 

· Perform other relevant tasks as assigned. 

Requirements

  

Education and Experience: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

· Any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. 

· Completion of City of Chicago Food Handler’s Certificate preferred, or ability to complete the certification within 90 days after date of hire.

· Exceptional time management skills. 

· Ability to stand or walk for 8-hour shifts and lift at least 20 pounds. 

· Willingness to comply with all food safety procedures. 

· Ability to follow instructions with a sense of urgency. 

· Knowledge of workplace safety procedures. 

· Reliable and punctual attendance. 

Language Skills 

Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently. Bilingual skills preferred.

· Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel; reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel or crouch. Constant standing throughout the shift is required.

· Specific vision requirements include the ability to see at close range, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Compensation and Benefits:

Hourly Range: $20.00 - $25.00, based on experience and qualifications.
