The Girls' Varsity Soccer Head Coach is responsible for leading and developing the girls' soccer program at New Life Academy. This role involves using an education-based athletics model to teach soccer fundamentals, competitive strategy, and team dynamics while fostering character growth, leadership, and faith development in student-athletes. The head coach will work to build a positive, Christ-centered culture that aligns with the mission and vision of New Life Academy Athletics and ensures a high-quality, competitive, and spiritually enriching experience for players in grades 6-12.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
• Establish a clear vision and plan for player and program development.
• Implement spiritual growth initiatives within the team, incorporating prayer, devotionals, and biblical principles.
• Develop and execute leadership and character-building activities for student-athletes.
• Implement effective game tactics, strategies, and team culture to promote success.
• Serve as the primary leader and role model for the varsity team.
• Provide high-level coaching, instruction, and mentorship for student-athletes.
• Oversee assistant coaches and provide mentorship and leadership to coaching staff, including middle school coaches.
• Plan and lead engaging, competitive practices with clear objectives.
• Develop and adjust game strategies based on opponent scouting and team strengths.
• Ensure a safe, structured, and positive environment for all athletes.
• Effectively communicate with players, parents, coaches, and administration.
• Promote the program within the school and community to increase participation and support.
• Report game results and statistics to media outlets in a timely manner.
• Attend athletic department, conference, and MSHSL meetings.
• Ensure compliance with MSHSL rules, conference regulations, and school policies.
• Assist in hiring, training, and supervising assistant coaches.
• Coordinate with the athletic director regarding scheduling, budgeting, uniforms, and equipment.
• Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Education:
• Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Must possess an MN coaching license or complete MSHSL certification before employment.
Experience:
• Previous coaching and/or high-level playing experience in soccer required.
• Demonstrated leadership and program development experience preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Deep knowledge of soccer development, strategy, and training techniques.
• Passion for working with student-athletes and developing Christian leaders.
• Organizational and problem-solving skills.
