JOB TITLE: Shipping Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Shipping
REPORTING TO: Inventory Warehouse Manager
PRIMARY FUNCTION OF POSITION:
A Shipping Coordinator (SC) will have primary responsibility for packing and shipping finished product to Libra Industries and customers, as assigned.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
- Review packaging and shipping specifications at the Sales Order, Project, and Customer level prior to processing a job
- Process a finished goods order to the customer:
- Package Material per Libra Industries and/or the customer’s packaging specifications
- Create a packing list (Shipper) using Libra Industries accounting software
- Prepare package for delivery to Libra Industries customer:
- Make ready for Libra Industries courier to delivery.
- Make ready for customer to pick up.
- Prepare paperwork for shipment via common carrier (UPS, FedEx, etc.).
- For internal shipments, also prepare required export paperwork.
- Communicate with other Libra Industries departments to resolve any issues preventing the processing of an order.
- In addition to packing orders, Libra Industries Shipping Coordinators may also serve as couriers, driving Libra Industries delivery vans to pick up and deliver product.
- Assist with other Stockroom tasks as needed and directed by Manager:
- Sign for packages received on Libra Industries dock.
- Preparing kits for return to the customer.
- Packing kits and inventory for shipment to the customer.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- For courier duties:
- Valid driver’s license
- Clean driving record
- Needs to have a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Basic knowledge of the shipping process:
- Packing to fixed specifications
- Creating shippers using accounting software
- Processing shipments using web-based carrier software (UPS, FedEx, etc.)
- Aptitude for learning new software and procedures.
- Ability to handle several tasks at one time while prioritizing workload.
- Comfortable interfacing directly with customers.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient spoken and written English.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
- 2-5 years of experience in a non-retail shipping setting.
- Experienced in a controlled inventory environment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- This positon will work in both front and shop environments.
- In the shop, you will be exposed to airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, machines, and material handling vehicles. PPE is required in this shop area.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- While performing duties of this job, the employee is required to have good hearing and sight.
- You will need to be able to walk the shop floor and be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
