Summary

The CNC Specialist produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine. The Specialist will need to modify part files and add sketches using SolidWorks as needed. You will also need to write programs using CamWorks and hand input G-code. Having a good understanding of feeds and speeds is a must. This position will help to maintain quality and safety standards in the Machine Shop; including performing daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance tasks to ensure machine longevity, including lubrication, cleaning, and tool replacement. Problem solving is a large part of this role. Oftentimes unforeseen obstacles come up, so innovating and finding ways to tackle these obstacles will be a crucial part of the day. We have a lot of one-off parts that will need to be cleaned, deburred, and inspected. Keeping the equipment in clean operating order is a must. Coolant changes, oil levels, spindle warmups are all aspects of this role and cannot be overlooked. It is important that the Specialist can complete big and small tasks with the same level of detail.
