At Ragnar, we have built a premiere series of road and trail running adventures. While we are excited about the progress we’ve made over the past 20 years, we feel like we are just scratching the surface. We want to change how individuals spend their weekend and infuse adventure into their everyday life.
We have built a coast-to-coast relay series, our own technology platform, dabbled in virtual events and partnered with some amazing brands along the way. Here at Ragnar, we are a passionate and scrappy team coming together from a wide range of backgrounds to solve incredibly complex problems and deliver amazing experiences.
We are on the search for a Race Coordinator to join our team. The primary role of the Race Coordinator is the planning and execution of race staffing needs and race logistics for Ragnar races throughout the United States. This person will support the operations team via a collaborative approach to project management, and will steward relationships with vendors, charities, community organizations, independent volunteers, race participants, and staffing agencies with the ultimate goal of providing incredible runner experiences.

What will you be working on:
- Develop and execute race staffing plans within established budget and program guidelines according to SOPs
- Plan and achieve effective utilization of community groups (civic, corporate, faith-based, educational, etc), individual volunteers, and temporary staffing for assigned races
- Ensure adequate staffing of races with our operational volunteers (S.W.A.T.) and ensure proper program administration
- Engage in planning and coordinating logistics for the race, like auditing race volunteer needs and reviewing inventory sheets, layouts, and planning documents for Race Directors
- In collaboration with the Race Director, conduct virtual and in-person trainings that facilitate successful race operations, volunteer and runner experiences in the weeks and days leading up to a race
- Interface with other departments, customers, and vendor representatives
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including compiling relevant data and post-race survey reports
- Contribute to the development of race budgets, manages expenses, and regularly monitors and provides relevant reports to supervisors
- In collaboration with the Race Director, coordinate travel logistics for staff and operational volunteers according to Ragnar travel policies
- Participate in continuous improvement projects involving cross functional teams where necessary
- Perform other related duties as needed to support the Ragnar Operations department and company-wide projects
- Travel up to 30% to perform essential market development and race operations function
Your skillset:

- 1-2 Years Relevant experiences in project management, volunteer management, community engagement, and/or event management
- Relationship management skills, including demonstrated ability to adapt to stressful situations and take initiative to manage conflict with a positive attitude.
- Foundational digital skills in web-based research, all forms of digital communication, and common software & project management tools. Willingness and resilience to learn additional digital tools quickly.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams
- Able to work non-traditional hours (evenings, overnight, weekends) as required
- Have a clean driving record
- Comfortable navigating travel in new and major cities
- All final candidates will undergo a background check and MVR after receiving the signed offer letter and release form.

As a member of the Operations Team, you will work onsite for 5 to 7 Ragnar events for up to one week each. When onsite at an event, there will be physical demands outside your routine job functions. These include but are not limited to spending long hours at large outdoor event, the safe operation of box trucks, cargo vans and utility carts, and the use of power/hand tools. Event roles may also require the ability to transport event equipment up to 50 lbs. To complete the essential functions, you must be able to communicate with co-workers in spaces with moderate to loud levels of volume. The role also requires the use of vision in various settings (such as but not limited to close, distance, color, depth, and peripheral vision).
