We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher’s Aide II to join our team, supporting students with autism in a dynamic and inclusive classroom environment.
Avondale House is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit agency that provides, educational services to individuals with autism, a day program for adults, where clients receive training in daily living skills and pre-vocational activities, employment services for those with disabilities and four residential homes for individuals unable to live in their own home. Avondale House has been serving individuals with autism since 1976.

Job Duties:
- Provide direct support to students with autism under the guidance of a certified special education teacher
- Assist in implementing individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Support students with academic, behavioral, hygienic and social-emotional needs
- Utilize strategies to address challenging behaviors in a positive and supportive way
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and staff to maintain a safe and structured learning environment
- Other duties as assigned
- Minimum of two years of college or 48 college credit hours
- Experience working with individuals with autism or behavioral needs is preferred
- Strong communication, patience, and a genuine desire to support students
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in special education, psychology, or related fields
- Training in behavior intervention strategies or Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to implement CPI, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.
- Lifting/Moving up to 50 lbs and lifting moving up to 100 plus lbs with assistance.
- Ability to stand on your feet for 2-3 hours at a time.
- Stooping, kneeling, pushing and pulling.
- Must be able to handle situations that may be stressful at times.
